Hi all. New poster here.

I have been searching long and hard for a stone in the 2ct G VS range with a H&A cut. This will be the center stone on an engagement ring. I would appreciate any thoughts / advice regarding the stone shown in the links below. It is a 2.10ct G VS2 with an HCA score of 0.7.

GIA Cert:
GIA 2141010343.pdf

FireTrace:
Firetrace 2141010343.pdf

ASET:

The ASET image is a bit blurry, likely due to poor camera focus. My one concern is a strange light leak near the girdle at about 11:30 o'clock. The vendor says that it is being caused by an inclusion (like a feather), and not by a chipped girdle.

I should be getting more images (hearts, idealscope, etc.) and a GemEx report in a few days.

Thanks!

Also, price is $35K.

Anybody?

Looks like a beautiful stone! I would just want to be sure it is eyeclean from the top and sides, but it hopefully is. Have you done price comparisions?

$35k appears to be a fair (or even bargain) price for a 2.1ct G VS2, HCA 0.7.

For example, this 2.13 ct H VS2, HCA 1.4 from whiteflash is listed for $33k: http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-2638947.htm

Similarly, this 2.07 ct G VS2, HCA 1.6 from GoG is listed for $36.6k: http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/8175/ I briefly considered this stone, but think it is somewhat overpriced, and I'm not jazzed about the (very) slight light leakage under the table.

What do you think?

Looks great!! great $$ too. r u getting it? :appl:

Need to do a bit more due diligence. I am still waiting on hearts image, idealscope image, and GemEx report. I also would like to get more info about what is causing the light leak on the girdle at 11:30. If it is an eye-clean inclusion, then that is no problem; it can be covered by the prong of a setting.

If all that checks out, then I'll probably pull the trigger.

If anyone with more knowledge than myself knows what may be causing the light leak on the girdle at 11:30, I would appreciate your thoughts.

Thanks,

Bump for thoughts of those more knowledgeable than I. TYIA!

Got GemEx report. Pretty good, yes?

I see no light leakage on that stone or on the Good Old Gold stone. Does this vendor offer lifetime trade-up with no minimum required and 100% value on your stone?

Good question about the trade-up policy. I'll have to ask. However, since it is a much smaller dealer, I doubt it.

The GoG stone appears to have some visible spots where the girdle is dug out, which can be seen in the ASET and the AGS Sarin images. The dug out spots are also visible in the stone's GemEx images (in particular, the dark portion on the girdle at 4-5 o'clock). http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/8175/

Greetings xeoh,

Just to clarify, *all diamonds* are to some degree painted or dug out. We'll provide the data so you know precisely how much, to what degree and whether it takes the hit in the most conservative labs. This particular one is not painted or dug to any degree that impacts the grade or the optics. Not one iota.

Also, the differences you see in red reflector images are due primarily to the lens and lighting employed in our photographic setup. I personally seek out the more critical setup which explains Bscope results and other characteristics. No leakage exists in the diamond outside of any other normal H&A diamond.

Regards,
Rhino

Hi Rhino, thanks for the reply.

I noticed that the GoG stone in question just mysteriously dropped in price by 10%. Tempting. I'll have to ponder the matter.

Thanks,

That amongst others were selected for our summer clearing.
