I've been looking at engagement rings for the past couple of weeks and have narrowed down my search. My overall budget (including setting) is $7,500 so I am looking for an approximately 1.0 carat round brilliant with a minimum H color, eye-clean SI1 clarity, and excellent cut.

When I was told one diamond I was interested in had been sold just prior to my hold request, I was suggested the following stone: http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/H-SI1-Ideal-Cut-Round-Diamond-1453547.asp

I was told it was completely eye-clean and thought it fit what I'm looking for so I requested an idealscope image. They're also sending me the idealscope image for this less expensive alternative: http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/H-SI1-Ideal-Cut-Round-Diamond-1466443.asp

FYI, this is the setting I'm thinking about: http://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/solitaire/round-solitaire-diamond-rings.html

Does this seem like a good value? Do you have any thoughts or suggested alternatives?

The numbers are good on both those stones. As long as they are eye-clean, they should by nice stones.

Both look great- as long as they are confirmed to be eyeclean. At this point it's really up to you which one you want I go with... Post the images you get sent

I got back the idealscope images for these two diamonds. Please see below the images and descriptions I received

"Diamond 1453547 (1.05 H SI1) has excellent fire, brilliance, and scintillation. It faces brighter and larger than your other option and is also perfectly eye clean. I recommend this diamond for purchase as the brighter, larger, and cleaner option. Since the gemologist favored this diamond the most, I have no doubts that you'll be pleased with its performance and overall beauty when you see it for yourself."

"Diamond 1466443 (1.01 H SI1) has great light performance. Its "H" color faces white but its feather located in the upper girdle will be visible to the unaided eye."

Based on the above, I think the 1.01 is out but the 1.05 is what I'm looking for. Any thoughts or concerns regarding the diamond or the idealscope image?

Thanks!

It looks like a great choice :twirl:

I checked all 3 stones on HCA and Aga scale and this is a result:

1. 1.5 Exellent -1A
2. 1.8 exxellent - 1A
3. 2 Very Good - 1A

It's seems 1st stone looks better , also 2nd has faint fluroncies.

The stone they suggest looks very good, the one i almost selected looked nearly identical.

Their selection looks like a great choice. How do you plan to set it?

Id go with JA's reccommendation :)
