After some helpful tips and directions from you kind people, I think i'm starting to head in the correct direction. I wanted to start a new thread to clear up the clutter in the last. I'm looking for around a 1ct stone with a Tiffany Legacy inspired setting around $6000 US.
I've been searching for the Antique cushion and while I love how they pop, I can't find one inside my budget.

I asked for aset/idealscope images of this diamond in the meantime

To go with this setting

But this is pushing the budget back a bit further than I want.

Or Excel which would in fact be cheaper, I just don't know the quality of their work. (Thoughts??) I have requested both aset/idealscope images for both stones.

Or a modified (Could anyone enlighten me why the modified is 600 cheaper?)

All in this setting

Pls post the images once you get them.
Ask the vendor about the bow tie effect, Cushion shape will have a bow tie, however if its minimal or negligible then its good to go with.

Both Excel diamonds you linked are modified, look at the GIA report.

Also the ERD one I suspect is also modified, because regular cushion brilliants are not as numerous as modified, and the proportions are a bit smallish for a cushion brilliant. In the Celine setting is an antique cushion, did you decide on modern or antique?

Oh wow I didn't even notice they were modified, I'm such a noob :errrr: Is there a big difference in modified? From my research, basically the modified has more cuts or thinner facet in it where as just the cushion brilliant has a larger facet where as antique has even less but even LARGER facets? If that's true, then I think I would rather choose the antique or the brilliant. It looks like the excel cushion diamonds are all modified, I honestly cant find one thats not :angryfire:

I like the antique and would choose it if a vendor had one in my price range with the setting. Since they don't (still searching but no luck) I'll be going modern cut. I really wish I could spend more (she deserves it), but we are in the process of buying a house so I don't want to dip into my house funds.

I will definitely ask about the bow tie affect, thanks for letting me know what to look for!

Thanks Julie, your the best!
My biggest issue with purchasing stone and setting separate is trying to find a jeweler to set the stone. I know it's a pain and I got to get the stone insured and blah blah blah. Just emailed them about a setting that I liked. What do you think of the cccc on that stone?
I did contact them and they ensured me that stone was eye clean :)
