We chose a setting that has side round diamonds. I wanted to go with a princess but the sales associate suggested that we also look at radiant. She said that it flows better with side round diamonds and it is closer to a round brilliant in terms of quality. Thoughts?

It doesn''t matter.

Go with what you want.

"it (radiant) is closer to a round brilliant in terms of quality"
Pardon my choice of words - but that is a load of BS. Go with what you like. If it "flows" for you, that is all that matters.

I''m not exactly sure what she meant by the word quality, but I think most radiants I''ve seen sparkle more than the princess cuts I''ve seen. Now I''ve probably never seen a well-cut princess, so that''s the reason for the lack of sparkle. If you want a princess cut with round sides, go for what you like. I think most people generally discourage round shapes next to square shapes just because they think that they don''t look good together. I have a radiant with pear sides, and I''m sure many people think that''s an odd combo, but I don''t care. I''m the one wearing it, not them.
