I did a search here, but couldn't find a post that says "YAY" or "NAY" about the IGI lab.

Long story short, I'm looking at a diamond tomorrow that I'm already skeptical about (for 1.85ct, it should be bigger than 7.63mm, no?). Just found out it's an IGI-graded diamond (F/SI2).

Should I even bother looking at it?

While recognized as reliable by many International diamond trading markets, IGI is not universally as well regarded as GIA. Your safest bet is to go with a GIA graded diamond, and most preferably NY, if possible. Also, I would look to stay SI1 and better, even if it means sacrificing the "F" color.

Good luck in your search!

The typical IGI report you see in the US is total garbage.
IGI outside the US in my understanding does not offer the garbage valuation reports and is considered to be fairly reasonable.
I very strongly prefer AGS/GIA unless I have it sent to an appraiser of my choosing, then I buy it based on the appraisers grading not the report.

I have never had a problem with IGI Antwerp, I find their reports to be spot on. When You are in Europe You mostly get HRD or IGI reports, forget EGL and run. Having been inside both IGI and HRD Antwerp, HRD is definitely much bigger and more state of the art but I have never been happy with their clarity grades and plots, IGI has been fine. Prefer GIA for sure on fancy colors and high value stones but otherwise their reports are not as read ily available here. EGL does some cut grading now and some of their triple Ex actually are well cut with good scores to my surprise but of course the certs are generally a joke and I would run from a dealer who works with their certs. I do not know IGI US and this stone does not sound good especially having read your other thread OP. In the US I would pick GIA or AGS for sure.

as previously mentioned, IGI in the US is not highly regarded as they tend to be inaccurate. That being said, stats are very important but are not everything, the diamond may still perform decently. Much depends on what you're looking for and willing to compromise on. If nothing else seeing it in person may further define your search.
