So I''ve been shopping around (both B&M and online). Looking for a .90-.95 RB. I''ve looked at several different diamonds at various B&M''s to get an idea of the type of stone I''m looking for. I came to the conclusion of a RB H&A.

I did see one nice HOF .93 RB F SI1 (only one inclusion which can be covered by a prong) AGS000 of course. I''ve looked at various other stones online to get a comparison. I don''t have cut angles just yet (forgot to write them down when I was there). My sister does have a nice .50 HOF so I do like the look that they provide which I realize comes at a premium.

That being said, is $7,400 on par for this type of stone (HOF .93 F SI1) or is that too high? I did visit another retailer that had a .85 HOF (I believe it was an F SI2) for $8,200.

Thanks for any opinions!

Well, I think that it''s likely a fair price if you insist on going with the HOF brand and retail.

However, you note you''ve been checking online too, and I think you can get much more for the same money that''s every bit as well-cut and beautiful.

Here''s one example: http://www.whiteflash.com/hearts_arrows/A-Cut-Above-H-A-cut-diamond-2323717.htm - Branded "A Cut Above" Hearts and Arrows stone.

That''s a 1.106 F, SI1 for $7277......less than the .93 stone from HOF, and will rival performance all day long.

My three stone ring has Hearts on Fire diamonds and while they are quite beautiful they definately come at a premium and I do not think the dealers are allowed much flexibility to discount prices. I have since purchased a diamond bracelet from Whiteflash with their "A Cut Above" diamonds and I can tell you that they look exactly like my HOF diamonds and I think you could do much better from a price stand point with WF.

when i was looking for a 5 stone ring.i was comparing HoF vs ACA. WOW!! what a big difference in price.

i took my wife to a b/m store and show her a 1.20 ctw HOF 5 stone ring and she love it.i told her that's what i'm buying for her.the HOF ring with H/I color SI stones was $3800 in 18k wg and if i want platinum band it's 6k.

i ended up buying the 5 stone ACA F/G color,VS clarity platinum ring 1.27 ctw for less than HoF 18k wg ring.

I too looked at HOF diamonds, and while they are very beautiful, I did not see enough of a difference to justify the enourmous mark up. The sales woman did not offer to negotiate on the price she only offered to down grade the diamond. Ultimately I decided to go else where, I''m now getting 3x the ring for the same price (custom).

If you have your heart set on the brand then you should go with it, there''s no doubt they offer a beautiful product.

I have compared HoF with other Hearts and Arrows stones and cannot see a difference. The only difference is the huge mark-up in price on the HoF. The stones I was looking at at HoF were $19,000 compared to around $11,000 for other equivalent hearts and arrows stones. It''s not even like a purse or shirt where there''s a visible emblem of the brand! So I can''t see any reason in the world to pay for HoF unless one truly has unlimited money and the price is no object.

HoF brand has too high of a markup. Ask for advice in this forum. There are super ideal cut stones online for much less or you can go up in carat or color and clarity with = cut for around same price.

It''s probably spot on for the HOF brand but I got a .92 G SI2 (with a prongable white inclusion) for about half that price. It''s branded Infinity. Now I did get an amazing deal but buying online will save you a few thousand. If you have that much to spend you could get a bigger H&A with the same amazing cut that will definitely rival the HOF. Good luck!
