Thoughts on a RB stone

Hello!

Based on the specs below, what are your thoughts on this stone? I know the table is pretty big which is nice because it makes the stone bigger, but how will that affect brilliance?

1.61 ct RB GIA cert
Excellent cut/polish/sym
J S12
Table: 60%
Depth: 58.5%
Crown Angle: 32.5%
Pavilion Angle: 41%
Cutlet: None
Florescence: Faint
Girdle: Thin
Price: $8250

It is not completely eye clean. It's mostly eye clean, but there is a browish spec on the crown. It's pretty far, almost to the edge.

It gets a very good score on the HCA (1.3). However it is definitly an unconventional RB, with the very large table, low depth and shallow crown angle. My understand this will make a stone display more brightness and less fire.

What makes the stone have a bigger spread is more the low depth and thin girdle than the large table. What is the mm spread of the stone? I agree with you that a spready stone can get a great way to get more bang for your buck.

Through your vendor, get a Idealscope Image and post it. That will allow the people here to give you better feedback.

Ya thats pretty giant for a 1.61 stone. Can your vendor provide you with an Idealscope? If not you should buy one yourself and take pictures through it. https://www.pricescope.com/tools/ideal-scope

Are you okay with the inclusions?

If I where you I would also look at stones that have higher crown angles, and smaller tables, to see if visually those appeal to you more.

KIm are you now thinking of returning your 1.5 EGL? I thought that it was too late for a return? Just so you know the HCA is based on a medium girdle and excellent to very good symmetry and is only a predictor of light performance, it doesn't take into consideration minor facet variations. I would strongly suggest that you get an idealscope image and an evaluation by a GG.

Is this from a PS vendor? Can you link the report?

Just FYI, the table doesn't make the stone bigger. It is just a bigger table. It has nothing to do with the diameter of the stone, which is quite large as well. That's a pretty low crown angle, though.

Big spread; more like 1.67ct. Big table. Low depth. Low crown height. Anticipate the performance to be quite bright - with some sacrifice in dispersion in normal lighting. Borderline GIA EX but a better border than the steep/deep border (IMO). FWIW, AGSL cut guides predict AGS1 in performance...the actual grade would depend on specifics.
