GIA certed
Carat weight: 1.20
Cut: Ideal
Color: J
Clarity: SI1
Depth %: 61.6%
Table %: 58%
Crown angle: 34.5
Pavillion angle: 40.8
Symmetry: Excellent
Polish: Excellent
Girdle: Slightly thick to slightly thick, faceted
Culet: None
Fluorescence: Medium blue
Measurements: 6.79 x 6.81 x 4.19 mm

The top-down inclusion is primarily a crystal one facet in from the edge, below and aligned with the edge of the facet.

I know J is a fairly low color grade, but it seems to be an excellent cut with medium blue fluor. It''s a great price. Any thoughts? This is at Blue Nile, I have not seen it in person, but am considering it due to the return policy.

i personally love a great J stone...so i don''t consider it a low color grade. i have a 2.32 J stone and it''s a knockout and many times people think it''s colorless. i can''t tell you how many people ask if it''s a D! cut really can mask a fair amount of color.

that said, this stone has some nice features about the #''s but how much research have you done? i''m not loving the slightly thick to thick girdle and the table/depth combo. the angles are nice though, and combined with table depth it''d probably have great light return. not sure how particular you want to be when searching for a stone, but this might be an option, however i''d be sure to research around more as well....there are a ton of great other online vendors besides BN. use the PS search up above to help narrow things down and i''d choose from ''cut quality'' or ''in house'' stones to narrow it down.

i love near colorless stones though, and think they are a great bang for the buck!!

I was interested because, when I plugged it into the cut advisor, it came up within the "ideal" zones of both AGS and GIA, and had the following:

Light Return Excellent
Fire Excellent
Scintillation Excellent
Spread
or diameter for weight Very Good

It''s also $4949 . . .

Ooh, that sounds like a great price. I can''t wait to see it (if you buy it of course).

Another "J" lover checking in. I have a gorgeous AGS-0 2.36 RB that I adore. I also just upgraded my studs (you can see my thread in SMTR) -- and they are K''s that are amazing! None of my diamonds show any *yellow* at all. As long as the stone is well-cut, I think J and K diamonds are GORGEOUS!

I would never be hesitant about a J colour in well cut round stones. I have a J Jube and a J OEC and love them both. They are a great way to maximize size while keeping the face up colour white.

I''m a J lover as well. I have a lovely J with medium blue fluorescence and I absolutely LOVE it!! I do not consider a good J a low color because mine appears to be colorless. I''ve held it against other diamonds that are much higher in color and against pure white backgrounds, I still cannot tell the yellow in almost all lighting situations, at the right angle (viewed from the side) I can sometimes catch a bit of a very very faint yellow near the culet, but no where else.

Good luck! I can''t wait to see it!!

i love warmer stones! my ering asscher is an L and no one has even guessed close to that ever! i love the warmer tone that these stones have, they throw off some great colors!

milton...hi.

hey, i too have a ''j'' diamond and agree with everyone else here. prior to purchasing my diamond, i had a ''bottom line'' on how far down the color scale i would ...descend. :) anyhow, ''here in the real world'' (as alan jackson would put it) the ''j'' grade is often forgotten by me and definitely never questioned or mentioned by all those who''ve been fortunate enough to see it! (sorry folks, had to write that!)

milton...let your eyes have the final say.

good luck, ron.

Those are almost the exact same measurments of my 1.2 j-colored stone so I''m biased
