Ugh! It seems mediocre compared to others I've seen. I thought we were all set on this diamond but now I feel like it's not the best we could find in our budget.
Really? It looked paler in color and has more white areas than others I've seen on here. I'm a nervous wreck about choosing the right stone, so sorry if I'm coming off as a nutcase!
The paler pink overall could be the photography. Some vendors like JA don't get the same color 'red' in their IS's as others do. It does have a bit more white in the outer edges than some, and that could make the stone look a little smaller visually than ones without as much of the white, but it has a nice pattern of contrast to it spread out over the edges and it's nicer than 99.99% of stones out there.
ETA: There is a bit more pale pink under half the table than I would like. But I think the stone is tilted and that's why it is there.
That is a wonderful IS image. Vendors vary in their methods of photography is all.
I notice there is an inclusion under the table, is the diamond eye clean to your standards? Sorry I have not followed your other posts so don't know the specs etc.
It's SI1, and looking at the actual image of the diamond, it appears eye clean. We don't have a big budget to work with so I'm just trying to get maximum sparkle for minimum $.
It's .79 H SI1, and this is what James Allen had to say:
"It has a mid to high H color performance and while our gemologist was able to pick up on its inclusions, they feel that it is less likely that the untrained eye will see them. I believe you'll be pleased with this diamonds lively light performance and find it to look gorgeous when you see it in person. Since it's likely that the untrained eye will likely view this SI1 graded diamond as eye clean, it will also provide you with a great value!"
Here's hoping everyone I know (myself included) has an untrained eye
I don't think it's a bad IS. It may just be tilted, which is causing the paler pink color in the middle on the left side. However, maybe keep looking if you're not 100% sure.
I think that IS image is perfectly fine. Tilt or photography probably accounts for the rest. Frankly when I saw the title, I didn't expect such a lovely image to greet me.
The only concen IS the inclusion. So if you see the diamond in person, just look to see if you can spot the inclusion. Not all SI1s are made equal - some are eye clean despite your best efforts, some are just visible if you tilted it to catch the light in a certain way.
Generally most people choose eye clean, but obviously that has a bearing on price. If the inclusion is very hard for you to see (actually see, not imagine seeing), and it doesn't bother you then you have a good stone at a bargain.
