Heh, Neatfreak. Alternately, if you don''t have a jeweler''s supply store nearby, try (of all places) a pet store. They tend to sell them for the, er, detection of stains.

sounds like I will be visiting an interesting variety of stores. I will let you know which is successful..

Sometimes not knowing is a blessing! I proudly wore my 3 carat pear shape engagement ring for many years, believing it to be a "gorgeous" stone. I got many compliments, no doubt due to the size.
It was only when my husband decided that I should get a larger, round stone as an anniversary present a few years ago(he never liked pear shape stones) that I found out that it was a lemon--yellowish, an I1 and not well cut.
They did not have the grading system they now have when we bought this stone many years ago and there was no GIA report. I am keeping it for sentimental reasons and will probably make it into a pendant. But I was happy with it all these years and am glad I did not learn that it was not a great stone until I was ready to upgrade.
I now have a beautiful ideal cut round stone \ that I bought from Whiteflash and I can see the difference in color and brilliance. I am very happy that I did not know until I was ready to upgrade.
Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder and if the stone is beautiful to you, that is all that matters unless you are planning to upgrade at the present.

it is the lights that my cousin uses during parties to make his beer bottles glow. He filled them up with fluorescent highlighter ink

and then they all wrote perverted messages on the walls with it. When you turn on the blacklights...wow, its like some sortof horror movie.

let us know what you find!
ROTFL! I surely hope that it''s not the parents'' or some hapless landlord''s place. Come to think of it, I do know some slumlords who''d deserve it, LOL.

personally i have a difficult enough time checking for blue fluoro in a face-up diamond while it's out of the settign all the more so when it's already in a setting (i always check with the stone loose and face down on a card) so i dont' know how practical it'll be for you to spot the blue in your stone while it's set especially if you've never seen it before to know what you're looking for. Real expert diamond dealers with years of experience (in othe words, not me :-) ) are able to sense fluorescence in loose diamonds even in regular office lighting but it's almost impossible i think for the average joe.

if words help though the fluoroscence is kind of like a white 'fire-cloud' that will be seen 'floating' in the middle of the diamond.

Hmmmnn.. I have a UV "Stink Finder" flashlight from the pet store and my fluorescent diamonds clearly glow with it. I have what I think is a medium blue in an I VS1 OEC, and I've seen various blues, "aqua", bright orange, yellow, and a dark reddish-orange in stones in various diamond cluster rings and pave settings. If there's absolutely no fluor, the diamond is just dark purple reflection of black light. I think it's possible to see even slight fluor w/ this light when the stone is just the right distance from the light and at a certain angle, so that fluor isn't obscured by the glare from the black light bulb.

Halloween stuff is in the stores now. There should be black light bulbs for sale. Not sure, but isn't black light somthing you should not look directly at?

Spencer''s at the mall also has black lights in the back but not flashlights. I may be on my way to the pet store too.

My stone is MB but never looks milky. When I ride the rides at Disney it just glows bluish purple. It''s really cool. You must have a fluor. black light though, not a regular light that is black.

Hope you find one. Also if you do a PS search you''ll see photos of diamonds under Fluor. Black lights.
