As many others, I have fallen for the AVC''s after seeing them IRL....

My heart is set.

Now to determine what i would like.

One thing I ask the owners.

in the photos i see posted that give reflections of pinks, greens, blues... from what is surrounding... I think this mostly seems to happen with the warmer colors? Am i right or wrong? are there D thru G''s or H''s that do this as well? For a potential first time stone owner I am feeling to satisfy my mind i need D thru G or maybe H.. should i not think about this with the AVC?

I will have a platinum setting and i am really not sure how warm i can go in color in a platinum setting with out the stone looking yellowish from the sides.

so i don''t know if i need to get a warmer stone to get that color play or not. i would like to get D thru G,H for my mind''s satisfaction.

looking at loose stones is one thing - but when put in a crisp platinum setting - i am not sure how the color of the stone will look - especially from the side.

Charmypoo - think you have an E? would love your input please.

I had an L in a white gold setting and it was too warm for me. The L was beautiful and it gave off a lot of colored light, but I also think the inherent color of the stone absorbed some light and it wasn''t as vibrant as I''d have liked. I traded it in for a G, and I haven''t noticed any difference in the amount of colored light it gives off at all. And I like the cooler color much better - L just wasn''t for me. I am color sensitive too, and I''m glad I tried the L, but after having it for a while I realized it just wasn''t "me". Sounds like you are in the same boat - I''d suggest you go with a higher color... otherwise you''ll probably wish you had. That said, they have a great return and trade in policy, which I took advantage of to get what I am really more happy with. Hope that helps -

Hi - firstly, great choice!

I do have to say, I really think Jon would enjoy discussing this question with you; so that would be my first stop on this decision.

Myself, I own an M and cannot get enough of the lovely rainbow colours it constantly gives off. As was said in my thread, it''s like the diamond just "doesn''t want to be white!".
I am one of the people though that think the warmer colours improve the AVC''s vintage appearance.

That said, I have not seen a higher colour one in person..so take that with a grain of salt I guess

Again, I suggest discussion with Jon - he will be able to give you a great answer, and likely illustrate with video too.

Good luck in your choice, it will be a stunner no matter what you decide!

thanks so much for you input...ecf8503
that''s what i needed to here.

i think i do need to go with my gut on this one.... and go G or better....

I answered a similar question in another thread so I am going to to copy the response that I provided below....

Color is a personal preference. My round was an H and I was perfectly content with the color. When hunting for an AVC, I originally expanded the color range to an I. Upon viewing an H and D side by side, I was immediately drawn to the D. I know a D is overkill but I loved the icy white color.

Express your desires and concerns to Jon and ask what he would recommend.

You are not the only one who agrees

.

However, the dispersion of the diamond (or the bright colors it gives off) is a result of the high crown and overall wonderful cut of your diamond. This should be largely independant of the body color of the diamond.

If anything one should get less dispersion from a lower colored diamond as part of the white light is being absorbed. I would think though this absorption is negligible and thus the dispersion from two diamonds with identical cuts would be the same no matter if one is a D and the other is an M.

Cheers,
CCL

I agree with CCL''s assessment that the body color does not impact the rainbow of colors that are seen with the AVC. I haven''t had enough time with my AVC to share my personal thoughts. However, for an ering, I have a strong preference for the icy whites. I am very color sensitive.

Sorry to threadjack OP but...

This is interesting! I recall your L very well and asked what you thought of the color at the time. I went from a K to a G and was also happy with my trade, though it was an RB not an AVC.
