Those of you w/ Euro-shanks, do they help prevent spin?

For those of you with Euro-shanks on your ring, do they help the ring not spin? Are the comfortable? What size difference is your knuckle from your ring area? Anything you do or don''t like about them? Any comments are appreciated.

I have a Euro shank and I THINK it helps, though I don''t have many other rings to compare to. I have one other ring with a big stone on top but it''s a bit too tight so doesn''t really spin. Not sure what the size difference is between my knuckle and finger. My ring is pretty heavy on the bottom (platinum) and I think the low profile helps with balance. I find that my ring sits slightly off center sometimes on my finger, but no real spinning. It took some getting used to (also because the edges of the band are squared instead of a more comfortable round) but it''s pretty comfortable otherwise.

I have a Krementz RHR with a euroshank and I love it. The ring is substantial and stays right in place very comfortably.

My original e-ring had a euroshank. I loved it. It did keep my diamond sitting up straight and tall, but now that I have worn rings without the euroshank, I think the reason is that I got into the habit of using my thumb to feel for the edge of the shank and automatically straighted up the ring. After 12 years of wear, the gold was wearing down there from this habit of mine. But, given the choice, I would get another one.

hard to say. My knuckles are the largest part of my finger, and it takes about a size 7 1/2 to go over them. Not sure how to measure the portion where the ring sits, but it is at least 1/2 to a full size smaller. My rings do tend to slide around a bit, but fortunately, I like them on the larger side.

ETA - I notice no difference in comfort from the Euroshank. However, my ring was less than 2 mm wide.

Not sure if you''ve looked into this but if you''re worried about ring spin, a hinged band might be an option for you.

Here''s an example, but there are other companies out there that do this. My mom has large knuckles compared to where her ring sits and she''s going to explore this option to get rid of ring spin.

This isn''t a recommendation, as I don''t know anyone who''s had this done, and I''m not sure what the drawbacks are but maybe someone else can comment on that.

Fact is, I had a ring custom-designed with a hinged shank, and I am finding out my ring may be too delicate a design for the FM shank I got, or else it should have been done in white gold or whatever. My hinged band deformed into an oval in less than a month of wear. I have heard that the best one is called Superringfit, I think, by Allan Creates, and it only comes in White gold. Maybe my ring could have worked with that one, but now I''m not wild about the idea of a half-platinum, half-WG ring. So that''s why I''m exploring the other options. Good luck with your mom''s ring! If she has WG, and her ring doesn''t have too many sidestones, I''ve heard that the hinged shanks supposedly can work well.
