I am posting this thread because of a report on 60 Minutes last Sunday night. My original thread was removed because a phrase I used was seen as having a racial bias. I did not mean for it to be taken that way and I do not condone racial slurs, profiling or attacks against anyone because of their ethnic heritage.
This picture will be very upsetting but these dogs need our help. **edited because it was upsetting for many forum members** not photoshop this. I copied it straight from the HSI website when I made my donation yesterday. If you go to hsi.org (Humane Society International website) these are the kinds of images you will see. This gentle, intelligent animal knows the fate that awaits him as he sits in a wire cage waiting to be killed and sold as a delicacy in a wet market. We have to do all that we can to stop this barbarism. **edited by moderator, these happen all over the world, including the US. Let’s bring race or nationalism into this** There will be other viruses, other pandemics, if these wet markets aren‘t shut down ,and soon.
To anyone who wants to leave a comment, I hope it will be one that may help in the rescue of these dogs, or at least be kind in it’s nature. I am fully aware of the cruelty that we human animals inflict on other animals. I wish I could save them all, the race horses, the greyhounds, all of them I stopped eating meat decades ago, am working on giving up chicken and eat mostly plants. My family has rescued countless dogs and cats over the years, even when it was a real strain on our budget to do so. Please know that what I am posting here is extremely upsetting to me. I am doing what I can to shine the light of day on this dark, ugly mess. I don't post often but I have read and enjoyed many, many Pricescope discussions over the years since I joined. At the ripe old age of 70, I’m not always sure what you are talking about ( eg. had no idea what a “Push present “ was) but I have learned so much about so many different topics and I have also learned that PS members are kind, know, and open with their feelings , and so many of you are animal lovers like me.
If anyone has a Facebook page ( I don’t) ,a blog ( again, I don’t) or any other venue you can use to reach more people and let them know what’s going on in **edited by moderator, again, do not choose a culture to shame**), I hope that you will take the time to post and ask people to donate to HSI or any other worthy organization, if they are able. I know these are financially difficult times for many people and not everyone can donate. But a call or email to 60 Minutes is something everyone can do. Please help in any way that you can. This has to stop!
Contact information for 60 Minutes program. Please call to leave a message asking 60 Minutes to do an in depth program on the wet markets.212-975 3247. Email for same reason: [email protected]
Thank you from the bottom of my heart,
jeanie
