can''t find that anyone else started a thread for this, so I did.

it is aggravating that Locke (Jacob''s nemesis) kept saying that there will be answers for Sawyer, but then he answered NOTHING! we only know he is trapped on the island and he is "recruiting" and not allowed to kill anyone, and Jacob has a list of "candidates". do you think the blonde boy apparition was Jacob as a young boy? and Locke substituting at the same school than Ben teaches at... do you think Ben ever went to the island in the sideways flash? I thought he was born on the island, but according to lostpedia he came to the island when he was 9. ok, that was last week.

did you notice that the names not scratched out in the cave and on the lighthouse dial all are linked to the numbers that Hurley won the lottery with and Desmond typed in at the hatch? anyway, where is Kate''s name? I can understand that it includes Jack, Sayid, Sawyer, Hurley, Jin/Sun... but what about Kate? she is the only other main character that was on the plane. why did Jacob want Jack to destroy the mirrors in the lighthouse?

what''s this whole story about Jack having a kid? at first I thought he didn''t remember much about this life because he couldn''t remember having his appendix removed as a child... but he did remember he has a son.

and was Claire really on the island this whole time? why would she kill Kate if she knew that Kate had been taking care of Aaron the whole time? or is she just weird because she is "infected"? anyway, good twist that her friend turned out to be Locke (Jacob''s nemesis)... I thought it would be Christian Shepherd.

There is a bit of speculation that Jacob may actually be the bad guy, and MIB/Flocke/Smokey may be the good guy. While it is true that the Others are shades of gray (but I'm assuming doing bad things for the sacrifice of a greater good) I'm not buying it; Smokey is definitely bad news. He takes Locke's form (the believer about the island) and mocks him and what he stood for while doing it, has lied to Claire about what happened to her baby, causing her to kill people without reason, and is deliberately withholding/twisting information for his own good. Notice all the stuff he accuses Jacob of he's actually done. For example the whole thing of telling Sawyer regarding the place he stayed with Juliet, probably the only true "home" he's known, that "this isn't your home, you only lived her for awhile", how is that not preying on someone when they are vulnerable? The best I'd give Smokey is that he is like some old testament god that you do things his way or risk punishment, while Jacob is more of a new testament Jesus figure, who can only influence things to a certain extent, but who has to let people make their own choices even if they are the wrong ones.

As far as Claire I read and think this is possible, that her father, and Smokey may be one. She didn't say if she ever saw them at the same time. First she was hanging out with Christian, then Flocke. But this could also be wrong.

Kate, Sun and Claire were not included in the cave writing. There''s speculation that they''re not eligible because they''re women and "mothers." It would make sense that they weren''t written on the light house wheel as well.

I was half asleep when I watched this week''s episode. I need to watch it again. Thank goodness for DVR.

Is anybody waiting for them to just say the other dude''s name? (The guy that took over Locke''s body.) I have my theory (I''m waiting for them to say "Esau"), but I''m getting reaaaaaaally tired of them saying, "My friend," or whatever euphamism they decide on.

princess - where did you get the name Esau?

Jacob & Esau - Biblical twin brothers

In the desperate search for clues as to who this shape shifting, vengeful, possibly villainous figure is, Lost fans have searched the Bible story of Jacob and Esau. In the Bible, Jacob is a quiet, intelligent, crafty being, much like Lost''s Jacob. Esau, on the other hand, is an impulsive hunter and gatherer who blames Jacob for stealing his birthright. So Esau tries to get one up on Jacob and take power over him, perhaps like the mystery man did to Lost''s Jacob.

Yup! Also, the physical descriptions fit: ''Jacob said to Rebekah his mother, "But my brother Esau is a hairy man, and I''m a man with smooth skin."'' If you look at the two original actors (before Jacob was killed and the other one took over Locke''s body), that description matches.

thanks! I did not know that.

do you think Alice in Wonderland and the white rabbit is purposely a recurring theme in Lost?
in the last episode, David was reading The Annotated Alice and the key to Jack's ex-wife's house is under a pottery rabbit. there have been a lot of white rabbits in the past seasons.

Jacob made physical contact with everyone off the island, except for Ilana. he met her in a Russian hospital, was wearing black gloves and didn't touch her. that's when he gave her the task to bring Sayid back to the Island. I want to know why he didn't touch her.

I wonder if all questions will be answered by the end of this season or if they will just answer the main ones.

Since it''s the final season, I sure hope they answer everything!

My DH keep saying that they are not going to answer anything by the end of the season, because they are going to make a movie

. Of course he enjoys torturing me

I seriously hope not. The best part about this is that they finally planned ahead enough to give us answers. If they try to drag this out I''m going to scream!

I feel like they''re giving us answers but they''re rushing to do so. It''s like, observe black and white rocks, QUICK! Make the connection to the bodies in the cave! It''s not an organic progression of questions and answers and that''s frustrating.

Really? I don''t feel rushed at all. Maybe I just have fewer questions. I don''t really care about rocks or bodies, so if they''re giving me answers about them, I''m obviously missing it!

The white and black rocks were features in Season one. Found with the bodies Hurley was talking to Jack about.

Really? Huh. Innnnteresting.

Apparently details aren''t my thing with this show.

I was super super into it during the first season and I read a lot of forums about the show, that''s how I remember.

Cool.

I will say, I''m loving that this season is back to the island mysteries and not freaking time travel and all sorts of weirdness. It''s almost got some of the creepy factor from the first 3 seasons back.

I''ve read an observation that the episodes this season parallel the episodes from the first season.

For example, this week was about Jack''s issues with his son (um, which by the way, WTF??). The corresponding episode from the first season was all about his daddy issues.

First ep of both season was a multiparter about the plane trip and aftermath.

Second ep of both seasons was about Kate as a fugitive.

Third ep was about Locke and his walkabout.

I''m curious to see if they continue this theme or if it''s just a huge coincidence. It would seem they can''t totally parallel it, because what about characters that are dead or no longer on the island? (Charlie, Boone, Michael/Walt).

I think those parallels are intentional, and I think they'll continue to follow the structure.

What stands out to me about Jack and the opening scene, is that he had the same expression on his face when he noticed his apendectomy scar as when he noticed the blood on his neck in the plane. How does he not remember some aspects of his life (apendectomy scars, bloody wounds), but remembers his son.

Also, in the original timeline (4th season), Juliet performed his apendectomy surgery in Dec. 04. But, in this new sequence of events, we're in September 2004. And the surgery happened when he was 8.

Also, the Lighthouse is Jacob''s, the cave, BSG/MiB''s. Light house, and a dark cave. They''re both working from the same list. One trying to manipulate them to stay on the island, the other manipluating them to leave.

Also, the names in the cave vs. the names in the lighthouse; I don''t think Jacob wrote those names in the cave. They are sort of written in such a random manner vs. the methodical organization of the lighthouse. Also, the list in the cave isn''t complete.

I think Jacob used the lighthouse to view the candidates throughout their life and intervened at certain moments to push them towards the island by making their lives miserable.

It''s really intriguing to read all the theories and things people catch, there is SO MUCH and I would love to go back and watch everything again but I don''t have the time!

I really am to the point where I WANT TO KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON! I was excited when they announced the end of Lost because even though I love it I want to know!!!

That being said, I need some answers, who are these "others" that Hurley and Jack are with and what happened to Sayid? I have heard predictions that since Jacob was gone, Sayid, Flocke and Jack would be the "Good" "Evil" and "Neutral forces, taking over from Jacob, the MIB and Richard. There is just too much going on for me still!

When Claire killed that guy and they were talking about her baby...I cant remember the circumstances when Kate left with Aaron. Wasnt Claire missing? And wasnt she not on the plane that is on the flip side of this season while Jack is heading back home?

Lauren, I''m assuming that MIB/Flocke wrote those names on the cave wall, that is his place. In a sense Jacob and him are playing a chess game, and whenever he figures out one of Jacob''s pieces, he writes it down (and when he takes the chess piece off the game, crosses the name out).

The biblical story is interesting, and practically everyone has names that are referencing someone else so it won''t be surprising. But I''m not sure if we are supposed to take it literally.

radiant - they didn't show Claire on the plane in the sideways flash, but it is implied that she was because she was in the taxi at the airport and she said she flew over to meet the adoptive parents of her baby.

yes, Claire was missing when Kate got on the helicopter with Aaron. I thought she went on a submarine back home, but turns out she's been on the island all along, which would make sense because we saw her in Jacob's cabin with Christian Shepherd.
