Such a heartbreaking story. Frustrated audiophile here. Somehow managed to sneak my late father's three-foot-tall 70s-era speakers "past" my wife when we finally had to empty out their place. I "A/B' them periodically with my own middling 5.1 system -- no comparison! Reminds me of him. Maybe 1/1000th the budget of this guy but I remember the long hours he spent with a graphic equalizer (?) trying to get the "imaging" to perfectly mimic the sound he loved from his decades-long season concert-hall seats.
