Hi all!!

Financing is worked out, and we''re ready to order! Our budget is $5000 and I''ve decided to put all the money I can into the stone (I really want a 1 carat!). So I''m going with the white gold 6 prong Tiffany style setting from Whiteflash (I''ll upgrade in a few years).

http://www.whiteflash.com/golden-wardrobe/Gold_Details.aspx?ItemCode=ST6PW&CategID=13

But I''m still between two stones. I''m not too color sensitive and am fine with going with an ''I'' colored stone. Here are the two candidates:
1.023 I SI1 ES collection
or
1.04 carat I SI1 ES Collection

I''m currently leaning toward the second because the inclusions are far from the table. Katie at Whiteflash is assisting us as well.

What do you think??? Thank you all again!!!

I think u can trust what Katie tells u! Did u ask her about a J? If u want a H&A they have a J. http://www.whiteflash.com/hearts_arrows/A-Cut-Above-H-A-cut-diamond-171977.htm Its a ACA H-A with the p/s discount it would be under 5000. (I think). You would have to go with a white gold mounting, but if u are going to upgrade anyway why pay the extra for the other one? Just a thought, but I would surely trust Jamie. I DID. haha

Hello!

I''m no expert, but I would want to know that the feather near the girdle of the 1.04ct diamond wouldn''t be likely to make it more prone to breakage, so I would ask that if you haven''t already.

Other than that they are both gorgeous diamonds.

I''d probably pick the 1.023ct because of the smaller table... but that''s just my own pref. :)

thank you cwj! I have nothing against J colored stones, but even with the discount, I live in Texas so you have to factor in the 8.25% sales tax. So the 3 or 4 hundred extra dollars would really put us over. I''m doing my best to stay as close to $5000 as possible...

To me (an admitted amateur) by the numbers these two ESs look like ACA candidates that were just a tiny bit under the grade... So I think they''ll look just fine. Right??

Thanks again to anyone who can help us!

Thank you Cleo! That''s an excellent point! I''ll be sure and ask about that.

I''ve never thought about the table size. Does smaller have an effect on how it looks? (In your opinion?) I''d love to hear why.

Just looking for any reason to pick one over the other. Thanks again!!

I just upgraded my diamond. My pervious diamond was an Expert Selection J VS2 1.03. I don't think they have relisted it yet, but I am sure it will be well within your price range. Maybe you could as your rep to speak to Celina about Maisies other diamond. I can assure you its stunning in person! No hint of yellow and incredibly sparkly.

If Katie said they were fine then they are fine!! Bumer living in the same state! No out of state family? I had my e/r shipped to my mother in another state, she only lives about an hour or so out from me so it worked wonderfully!! Saved us about 10%! TN tax.

Good Luck,
cwj

Thanks for the tip Maisie! It would be really fun to know my diamond's 'previous owner' haha! I'll keep an eye out for it...

Yeah cwj, all my family lives in Texas and so does his. He has an aunt and uncle in Chicago and another uncle and aunt in Pennsylvania, but they're not super close. I think that would be a strange request to ask of them...

But we really like the idea of buying 'local' even if it is over the internet. haha So the sales tax we're willing to take.

Nice article on the effect of table size on fire and scintillation here:

Of course, if the rest of the proportions aren''t good then it''s irrelevant - but both these stones seem great.

Wow! Thank you so much! I never knew that about table size...

I always learn something when I come to Pricescope... I love this site and its users.

Thanks again Cleo!

Don''t u just hate taxes! I can''t stand when they put something just out of reach! I''m sure you and Jamie will find just what u need. Maise''s does sound great, doesn''t it!

All things being almost equal, I''d go with the one with an AGS certificate.

Yeah cwj, taxes hurt... particularly with this large of purchase.

Thank you swingirl! So far that''s two ''votes'' for the 1.023 I SI1. :-)

Me too, especially if WF says it is eye clean.

I''d also go the AGS cert. I like the crown angle on the first one better, not quite as steep. Of course we''re just splitting hairs because you asked, I''m sure they would both be beautiful.

Thank you secondhandnews and angeline!

It''s actually wonderful to hear you say I''m ''splitting hairs''... I was paranoid I was missing something. If anything, a vote of confidence is always welcome!!

Thanks again ladies!

You could always have someone (preferably Brian) at WF take a look at both stones and compare them for you. They will tell you which they feel is the better stone of the two.

They truly are both awesome diamonds. :)

I would also give the AGSL cert a vote too - becaise the requirements for getting an AGS0 grade are somewhat tighter than for a GIA Ex cut grade. I wouldn''t have mentioned it, only someone else did first.

The fact I have an AGS0 might also influence my feelings on this. :)

You can''t go wrong with either.. but you asked for an opinion!

Ditto! They both look great, and I would want the cleanest one.

Thanks again everyone! I''m still waiting to hear back from Whiteflash as to their favorite, but I really appreciate all the feedback.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!
