...is your ring finger shorter than your pointer finger? Studies have found that almost all females have a shorter (or equal to) length ring finger than index finger, whereas for males, it's the opposite: almost all males have a longer ring finger than index finger.

Females: shorter ring than pointer
Males: longer ring than pointer

You can read about it here and here: http://www.human-nature.com/nibbs/02/manning.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digit_ratio

Do you follow the 'rule'? Does your husband?

Mine are the same length. I''ll have to check DH when I get home lol.

Some additional info (I find this stuff fascinating!
3.gif
):

"Long index fingers are related to strong social presence an empathy for feelings one oneself and those of others. A long forefinger represents a leader and a 'persona' person; someone who puts on a mask to face the world.

Such individuals are more neurotic and sensitive; they have greater literary and verbal abilities.

Long index fingers are linked to high fertility in women and low fertility in men.

Females with longer index fingers have decreased spatial skills. So, cut them some slack when they are parking the car or navigating for you."

"Long ring fingers are linked to the polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), osteoarthritis, autism, dyslexia, schizophrenia, depression, and cervical and breast cancer.

Men with long ring fingers have normally larger families, while women with larger families are likely to have long index fingers.

Men with longer ring fingers tend to be less generous. Women with unusually long ring fingers are supposed to be more likely to achieve higher levels in sport. Men with long ring fingers longer run faster. These men are also at higher risk of osteoarthritis."

my ring fingers are longer than the pointer fingers

My ring finger is longer than my index.

ETA: Weird! On my left hand, my ring finger is longer. On my right hand they're almost the same length.

I'm deformed!

I follow this study.

I''ll have to check hubs when I get home

I just texted DH and he follows the rule!

My ring finger is longer than my index finger (by at least a centimeter) - I believe this means I had more testosterone in the womb? I don't think I fit the profile though - I'm not athletic at all, I'm not aggressive (though I suppose I'm pretty assertive), etc. I don't really see any of the expected traits or conditions in myself other than the fact that I'm very tall despite being from a pretty short family, I tend to get along better with men than women, and I'm good at math and science

I think DH's fingers are the same as mine, which is normal for men.

eta: I'm better spatially than most women I know and am always the one who figures out where we should be going - I suppose that fits the theory.

Yes, supposedly that is the theory behind this, if a female doesn''t follow the trend. Interesting!

My index fingers are longer...

I admit I sometimes walk into walls, so the spatial thing fits.

And as a woman who will probably TTC at 35+, I am hopeful that the high fertility thing is true.

I don''t fit anything! Lol what does it mean if they are the same length?

My ring finger is longer.

I do not have spatial

issues

My ring and pointer fingers are the same size.

I am a female with a longer ring finger than index finger on each hand. Another interesting fact: my ring fingers are the same size on both hands, which is unusual. I can switch a ring from left hand to right.

I'm not going to rush out and be tested for any of the diseases I am supposedly prone to, however. The research hardly looks definitive!!! Moreover, everything in the description of what the female with long ring fingers is supposed to be sounds like someone else and the description of the female with short ring fingers sounds like me!

That's still 'normal' for a woman. The oddity is if the ring finger is longer...in most women it won't be.

Apparently we female Pricescopers buck the trend!

Ditto to this. My fingers are all the same size from hand to hand so I can switch rings from right to left.

Same with me on both counts.

On my left hand my ring finger is longer. On my right hand they seem a bit closer in length but my ring finger looks just the tiniest bit longer.

Ok, this is weird. When I look at my fingers with the palm down, my ring finger is obviously longer but when I look at my fingers with palm facing up, my pointer finger is longer, although not by much. Does this study indicate which way you should look at your hands (palm up or down)?

CDN, palm down, like you''re admiring your e-ring.

Grrrrrr. That''s what I get for talking and typing at the same time.

*Ahem*

My *ring* finger is longer on both hands.

My rings are longer. As someone mentioned before, this has to do with testosterone, but I dont remember where or when I learned that... I''m pretty hairy, so no surprises here. Also there is lotsa PCOS in my fam.
40.gif

Hey! My ring finger is longer on my left hand, but equal on my right hand! I never noticed that before. How strange. Now what does THAT mean?
9.gif

Some of the profile for long index fingers fits me...but other traits don''t. Maybe because only one hand is longer?

I first read your post as ''CDN, calm down''.

Thanks for clarifying.

My pointer is just a teensy bit longer on the left, and noticeably longer on the right. Husband says his ring is longer than pointer.

oops. Double post.
