Check out the GIA certificate and see if the carbon spot matches up with the picture. Did you look at this diamond with a loupe before you purchased it? Is this the first time you''ve noticed this spot?
Also, have you tried cleaning it? Maybe it''s a speck of dirt.
What''s the return policy on this ring? Any money back guarantee?
If that is truly a carbon spot on the ring that is not in the GIA report, then something is fishy. Definitely point out the crooked setting and ask about the black spot.
Yes see if the carbon spot matches the cert, but it is possible in a VS emerald cut to be able to see an inclusion as an EC is more unforgiving than a round for example. It isn't true that all VS diamonds are completely eyeclean, you MAY be able to spot something, also clarity grading is done face up, so it is even more likely when tilting the diamond at an angle you can see it and / or possibly the inclusion's reflection. If you otherwise love the diamond look at it as a handy birthmark characteristic of your diamond. Jelly has a point, sometimes these inclusions CAN be a piece of dirt in some cases, give it a good clean, also when you have it reset if it is an inclusion, request that they cover the inclusion with a prong if possible.
