I found a funny new ring from TCo from Gehry. It''s the Torque collection with a tiny diamond in it. I thought it may make an interesting engagement ring or promise ring...

Ahh strm that cracked me up. Could you beat around the bush a little more? It''s hard to know what it is you''re thinking.

Someone posted the earring version of that design and I didn''t like it. I actually walked around Tiff''s last weekend and liked the earrings even less in person. However, the rings weren''t so bad. It''s an interesting design if you''re into geometry. Not my cup of tea, but probably somebody''s!

well....

I don''t know where this is coming from, but I''m starting to get the faintest feeling you don''t like them.

not a huge fan of that ring, a little too cartoonish for me. i do really like the wide and narrow Torque bands, though. i have a wide one in brushed sterling silver, and the rose gold one is very pretty. this one would look nice as part of a stack of thin torque bands.

i like it.... but not for a an ering. it would be a fun ring to wear on the right hand, now and then.

I''m a huge fan of Gehry, and tend to love the assymetry in his work. This just screams Gehry to me, and I love it!

Not for an e-ring, or even an every day ring, but definitely for the architect in me to gaze upon every now and then.

If I watched lots of TV, I''d be all about that ring. But I don''t, so I''m not.

Leave it to me to stray from the flock...I love it. I am a modernist through and through. Actually I think I like anything that will annoy my MIL. And that ring...would drive her nutts!

I do agree not for use for an engagement ring. Too avant garde for me on that particular need. Guess I am not as modern as I boast about being, huh?

I think part of the intrigue I have is of course T&co...and then of course Gehry...I must confess if that was created at a mom and pop jeweler I would laugh and scorn at it. The custom work that achieves awards makes me want to scream. Most look like kindergarten class adding a triangle to a square to a circle...

For some reason I am holding this piece to a higher esteem than custom. AM I Flaky? Do I have Designer blinders? Have I fallen and hit my head? It isn''t that bad is it?

I think it's fun! It in no way merits an "ew," strm. We've ALL seen the good/bad/ugly thread and there's no way this belongs on there! I wouldn't buy it for myself, but I'd certainly admire it on someone else!

I can like "different" at times, but this isn''t one of them.

It looks to me like the diamond is a show on TV.

My sister really likes this ring. I didn't like it AT ALL until we went and saw it in person at the Tiffany in NYC. I definitely wouldn't buy it for myself (I don't like the design that much or the price-$1600 for a .18 diamond in white gold!

) However, it looks a lot nicer in real life, I must admit.

I'm a fan of Gehry, too, so I think that helped sway me...I just went to the Guggenheim in Bilbao, Spain last October...it's beyond amazing!

It does rather look like a cartoon-y tv, doesn''t it? lol
*grins* Yes it does, thank you!! My first thought (sadly) when I saw it was, "Animaniacs? On my finger?!"

Not my cup of tea either!

Ummm... nope, sorry - doesn''t cut it for me either!

HI:

Wearable art...I love it! Visted the Tiffany''s on El Paseo and saw this collection, could have had two or three pieces.....

cheers--Sharon

YES - looks like Tim Burton designed it!
Yep, absolutely. First thing that came to my mind was "Beetlejuice." lol I kind of like it, but wouldn''t wear it. It''s just kind of interesting to look at.

Now I''m embarassed to say that I like it! I''d never get it for an engagement ring - too trendy - but I do like modern styles and geometrics and I think this would be a very fun right hand ring. Although being that it''s solitaire, not sure how it would really seem as a RHR. But I''d definitely get it if a) I was rich and b) it would look okay on my right hand. I think it''s a fun ring.

But as an engagment ring, no. My taste in geometric from the left hand runs to emerald cuts with round half-eternity bands as contrast. (but you knew that)...

I like Gehry too.

Can''t really say I''m partial to it. It''s not my cup of tea.

Apparently this ring was a mistake - the setter forgot to take the diamond out of it''s box.

I think that would fit in well on the "DOH!" moments thread.

It is not my thing. But I have a good friend who is an artist. This design would be right up her alley! I can totally imagine her wearing it. The design would definitely suit her personal style... quirky and nontradtional.

Ok, what if you buy a few of them and stack them together...such as a triangle, and rectangle, and the square? They don't interlock...and yet playoff of each other. So ever so quirky and yet in a set make sense? Still No?

Any players now?

DKS

ETA: never mind...I just went to the site and he only makes the square...but you could buy two...well that is I guess if you are a nutt....those of you who don't like it are surely not going to NOW buy two. Getting you to get one wasn't going to happen, was it? He also makes a bead sterling one...without the diamond. Just a contorted big block of hunka hunka silver. What about his bowls? Or vases? OH poo. No one is hip-it is lonely being hip
