Ok, so after some serious searching around locally and down in the diamond district in NYC I finally found a diamond that really jumped out at me, but I would like independent opinions on wether this is a fair deal or not.

Here are the stats:

1.92 ct Radiant cut

8.07X7.08X4.45

No flor

Depth 62.9 Table 68

Polish good

Sym good

Vs 1

$18,500

Does this seem like a fair/reasonable price for the stone? Shopping around, it seemed very reasonable for what I was getting, and the stone honestly jumped out at me. When placed into a simple solitary setting, it looked much bigger then I expected and really looked nice. Any opinons are appreciated!

price comparison is under "prices"

Ok, can you point me in the direction of that thread? Because I dont see it.

What color is it? and what kind of cert does it come with?

At the top of PS you can pricescope your diamond to see what other comparable stones are going for. I don't know anything about radiants, hopefully others will chime in on your specs. Is this a certified stone, if so, which lab is it certed by?? Good luck!!!

Sorry about that. The color is E and its a GIA cert. Now how does it stack up? This isnt a internet sale, its from a store in the Diamond District.

Any input at all with the updated info?

Have you searched under Prices at the top yet. I also use Bluenile.com as a reference point, as they pull from such a large inventory.

Can you post the FULL details of the stone here? Everything from the GIA cert. And even the GIA cert # would be helpful. The more detail we have, the more we can help. But, also help yourself by searching, as noted above.

Finally, it''s always good to send the stone for an appraisal before purchase. Any reputable dealer will allow this. Choose your own appraiser, not one they recommend. I believe that small investment plus a little searching for price comparisons will give you what you''re looking for.

Finally, run the specs for the diamond through Dave Atlas'' Cut Grade tool:

http://www.gemappraisers.com/oldcutgrade.asp

And Garry''s HCA:
https://www.pricescope.com/cutadviser.asp

These will help rule diamonds out and are useful before sending your stone for an appraisal, prior to purchase.

Quash, do either of those tools work on radiant diamonds?? I did not think the HCA did , don''t know a thing about the other one.

The HCA is only for round brilliant diamonds. The AGA/David Atlas'' cut grades are a good starting point for checking out the cut on fancy shapes.

The price for me seems very high, I value that diamond for $16000 But if you liked it and it was in your price range. So get it.
Good luck and let us know what happens.

If you put go to bluenile, add all the advanced filters and put in those specs, 2 carats with those specs start at just under $20,000K. I don''t know ideal table and depth specs for radiants, so I didn''t play with those filters. But, bluenile gives you a very rough idea as to where this diamond sits. I don''t know how much the price should be dropping by going just below the magic 2 carat number.

I''d still send it to an appraiser *prior* to purchase, though. I''d also ask around this forum for the ideal specs for a radiant, in case you can save money by reducing quality in some areas and increasing it in others.

It seems over priced. Becareful where you buy a stone when shopping in the diamond district.
