I am just curious what would be preferable on a diamond... a thin girdle or a thin to medium faceted one? Or does it really not make a difference at all? I am in the market of buying a new stone since I was unhappy with my old one and I just want to make sure the one I pick is a winner. Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks

In an ideal world it is best to go for slightly thin to slightly thick. In a well cut diamond thin is usually ok and not a durability issue - thin to med is fine too. Avoid very thin or girdles with a large variance, eg, very thin to med, thin to very thick, ex thick etc.

The stone I am looking at is an ACA, the girdle on one is thin and the other in thin-medium faceted. What is the difference b/w one being faceted and one not being faceted. Does it affect the performance of the diamond?

Here you go Starky, this thread should answer your faceting question and give you some more help.
