Hi
I just got back from my appraiser who said I had a great pair of earrings, but said one stud had very thin girdle.

Is this a problem for studs?? the appraiser suggested that it wasnt an issue, but thought I would check with the pricescope experts to get some feedback.
Everything else about the stones was brilliant (no pun intended

) Oh, they are set in a standard 4 prong type setting.

thanks in advance

It''s not a problem. Handle with care, of course, but your ear is not going to get banged around.

Shouldn''t be an issue with an earring!

I agree that there probably wont be a problem with the very thin girdle on an earring. But i would advise any jeweler working on them in the future that if the diamond''s mounting needs to be tightened that the girdle is very thin and get it in writing that you informed them of this. One big problem with very thin girdles is that they dont hold up well to pressure or a direct hit.I wouldnt reset this diamond in a bracelet or ring in the future.

thanks, to be more specific the AGS cetification says

faceted 0.9 - 3.0%

so it is the 0.9% bit I am worried about.
