Hi guys,

I am in the process of getting a ering designed and was wondering if anyone
had any issues with a thin ering band, sub 2mm (more like 1.3-1.7mm). I believe i read
in a previous thread that angeleainjapan''s HW micropave ring was slightly over 1mm, and
My GF really likes that delicate look. FYI, the ring i am having made will be a Micro-pave Halo setting modified for flush fit, the center stone is a 1.65ct cushion.

Thanks!

hi Dodgers! will your GF be wearing the rings all the time? or just for special occasions? is she active and does she use her hands a lot? that is very thin, and with pave it is going to have even less metal giving it some presence to hold up to daily wear.

i have a 1.5mm pave eternity band made by leon mege. it is well protected from contact with anything from my ER which sits a lot higher all around. it is a surprisingly solid little band, but i''ve wondered how i would feel if it were the band holding my diamond and i think i''d go nuts worrying about it! as it is, i am always checking it to make sure a diamond isn''t missing, or that the band isn''t bent, or that a diamond hasn''t been smashed. and i am not prone to fussiness or worry about jewelry. however if i were to go with a thin pave band for my ER i personally wouldn''t go smaller than 2mm for more peace of mind.

if, however, your GF would be one to only wear her ring for special occasions or baby, baby, baby it, then you might be ok. so long as you are 100% confident in the quality of the work of the person making the ring for you.

We typically discourage such thin shanks because we feel it poses a durability risk, especially for substantial stones such as this one. There just isn''t enough metal to maintain the integrity of the piece.
