Hi Everyone:

I hope you can help me here. I''m going to get a 0.7ct diamond and I''m not sure if it would look better in a thin setting or a wide setting. The two settings I''m considering are these.: In the first setting the ering and band are each 1.9mm wide. In the second setting the rings are each 2.6mm.

What do you all think? Which of these two rings will look better with my diamond size . I''m thinking the wider rings will overwhelm my stone on the other hand I also think the thinner rings may look too dainty.

Help.

PS: My ring size is 6.5 if that helps.

I always like thin dainty bands with smaller diamonds. Really makes them pop.

you mean .70 right? in any case i like thinner bands.

I like thicker bands, however, with a smaller stone, a daintier band makes the diamond stand out more. I''d go with the thinner one.

Yes, I meant .70ct.
I wanted a thin band and dainty look but I read somewhere on this board that thinner than 2mm maybe dangerously thin
so that got me concerned

I would go with the size you like - I am sure you can find a thinner band that has depth thickness (not width) and isn''t too thin. I like thinner bands because it makes the diamond the main focus.

My thoughts exactly - thin bands make the diamond pop.
I guess I shouldn''t worry so much about the thickness (or lack thereof) then.

Thanks

i think that 2mm is pretty thin. have you tried trying some on to see what width you like best? i agree that it can help your stone look bigger.

I tried a 4mm ring on and I liked it.
So I''m thinking that two 2mm rings will feel about the same.
I have worn an 8mm ring for the past 10 yrs and for our anniversary I''m getting a new ring and feel like going with a thinner ring
No that I''ve not loved my thick band but I want to try something different.
Well, tomorrow I''ll go to the mall and try out some 2mm rings if I can find them.

I love the thinner bands also

The thinner the band the larger the diamond looks!

It seems everyone agrees the thinnner the band the larger the diamond looks.
My question is whether 1.9mm is too thin for structural purposes.

My ering is around 1.6mm. I don''t think it''s flimsy at all and haven''t had any problems.

Good to hear that Panda

.7 is the same as .70

Well.... I''ll be the different one.. mine stone is only .63, and the band is a 4mm.... I think it pops pretty well! I had the small 2mm band... everyone kept saying they''d be afraid it was so thin....

I want my band to be narrower in width than my diamond. i dont want the band to be wider than the diamond itself. i personally think it gives the illusion that the ring the person is wearing is only a wedding band than an e-ring.

Usually I''d say to go for the thinner band. Thinner bands really seem to visually maximize the size of the diamond. I do, however, LOVE kboggs315''s ring. Her diamond definitely does POP!
