I had a friend get engaged recently and by the most amazing connections ever, she had her ring specially made by the same people who make Harry Winston rings. It is a 3 carat emerald on an incredibly thin band, with incredibly thin diamonds in the band. (Don''t have a pic, sorry). The thin band really makes her diamond stand out (not that it needs much help).Because I am starting to fall in love with asschers, and because I know they look smaller than other diamonds of the same size, I am starting to think I would like to very very thin plain platinum band for my future e-ring. Are these bands hard to find? I noticed that very few of the pics on this site show thin plain bands, which I think could be good for making the stone stand out. Is that just a personal preference or are they just not made that thin because of necessity?

Thanks!

Perhaps your friend got her ring made by Leon Mege at www.artofplatinum.com - I believe he does some work for Harry Winston.

His bands are some of the thinnest, most delicate I''ve ever seen...from everything I''ve read on PS, they are also quite sturdy. I think band thickness is a personal preference, some hands look better with thicker bands, some thinner.
