Well lately there have been lots of inspiration boards and people offering awesome advice for details, color schemes, etc.

I''ve posted before about how my FI wants purple and I want a teal/blue color, but these aren''t set in stone. We''re getting married May 1, 2009 and we have booked the site and I''ve bought my dress. Pretty much nothing else is set!

Here''s the Inspiration board I have so far. Top Left and Middle are my dress (Casablanca 1902) Top Right is an inviation we both like. Under the invite are two pictures from the knot that I thought might work with the colors FI and I both want. Middle left is our Save the Date that our Graphic Design person/Invite maker created off of a Norman Rockwell ispiration pic. The dog in it is a drawing she did of our dog! To the right of the save the date (which has already been sent out) is a picture of the cocktail hour room, under that is the bar and the bottom left is the reception room. The two pictures on the bottom right are our ceremony location. It is outside on the beach in a gazebo. The palm trees probably won''t be there for our ceremony.

Let me know if you have any suggestions for themes/details, etc and if you have any thoughts on the color scheme!! Thanks in advance! Oh, and if you''d like to see a larger version of anything (some of the pics lost quality in compression) let me know as I have bigger versions of all of them!

mjso, I think you''re off to a great start! Blue and purple is a great combination and I love your STD!

I have come across other inspiration boards of the same colours. I can post them if you think they would help give you some ideas. Lemme know.

Thanks!! That would be awesome if you could post some of the others you''ve seen!

I''m still torn about the fun/party bright colors vs. a more sophisticated color pallate. Our ceremony starts at 6pm and our reception is going to be right after that, so it will be at least semi-formal. Do the bright colors make it seem too "beachy, afternoon, casual"?

Here's board 1. ETA: Ok, that turned out really small. If anyone knows how to enlarge it, I'd appreciate it!

Here's board 2.

ETA: Here's the link so you can get a better view.

Here''s board 2.

Oooh! This board is awesome. I''ll definitely have to show it to FI.

Thanks again!

Unfortunately, the boards came out small.

I think you can make the colours look more formal in how you use them. Certain flowers can look more formal than others, for instance.

You can also use a softer palette in the same colour range if you think it''ll look more sophisticated. Instead of a bright purple, maybe a soft lavendar?

Wow, I love the second board CDN! That is gorgeous!!!

I too love the idea of purple and blue/teal together.

I love mjso's colour choice too; it's so fresh!
Everyone's been doing a great job putting together great but unexpected colour choices.

we used purple and blue for our colors. too, with touches of green thrown in. there''s a collage on the inspiration boards thread that has a few pix from our wedding, but i couldn''t post too many because we haven''t purchased the copyrights yet. i did, however, also post a link to the pro pix on another thread. our wedding was at 4:30 with the reception starting at 5, and we used a brighter purple and blue.

I think if you''re able to put together a board that you like without identifying a "theme" then you don''t need a "theme" at all.

I didn''t have a theme for my wedding--and lean on the colors to guide me.

But something about your STD''s, the blue and purple makes me think of a country chic wedding....

CDN - I thought about using Lavendar too, but FI seems more set on a brighter purple. I even went richer and thought about Eggplant, but he veto''d that one too

Freke - thanks! Glad you like the idea of purple and blue together

Doodle - I logged in to look at your pics and I

your cake. The colors in the orchids (I think they are orchids at least) are almost exactly what I''ve been looking for. I was also happy to see that you had green too. Our venue has sage green walls and I was semi-freaking out about the walls clashing with our colors.
Italia - I love the idea of country chic, but my venue being on the beach in NJ makes me wonder if I can pull that off. If I was doing the wedding in Montana, where FI and I went to college, I would totally be doing something country-ish. I just feel like it might be out of place with our ceremony/reception location. If I can somehow factor country into a beach setting, without it seeming out of place, I''d love that.

I''m excited to meet with our graphic designer (my cousin''s wife) for our invitations. We''re doing it in December when we are back in NJ for christmas. I feel like once we talk to her and really nail down the invitations we might have a better idea of the color scheme. I''m also going bridesmaid dress shopping on that same trip, which will again solidify things more.

Thanks for all of the input so far!

yup, they''re orchids, and they''re what we based our entire wedding color palette off of because i loved them so much! in person, they''re purple on the outside, blue on the inside, and as the blue gets closer to the center, it fades to aqua. we used them in our centerpieces, the cake, the mantle in the reception hall, and hanging from japanese paper lanterns both in the ceiling of the gazebo where we had the ceremony and on our aisle markers. basically, anything that didn''t run from me screaming wound up with orchids!
