I''ve technically been engaged since last August (2009) when we decided that we wanted to get married after six years of knowing each other, falling in love, etc. Then came the whole "let''s find a ring phase" which lasted until December. The ring was paid for and ordered from a local jewelry store and the setting was from Spectrum diamonds Sylvie Collection. Well, here it is in March and I''m still waiting for it to arrive. This is absolutely driving me batty. I''ve called and called again throughout the last several weeks, have been told twice that it was, "being shipped" only to learn (after I call--the don''t call to let me know the status) that it has not been shipped. They told me on Saturday that it will be here "late next week"--which is now. If I''m told that it hasn''t shipped again I''m going to explode. I so want to see my ring... I''m tired of being ''engaged'' with no ring. I''ve gotten a wedding dress, ordered a cake, ordered flowers, looked at venues, all without a ring. Oh, and we''re even having a house built. This is getting embarrassing. Sigh... Well, I feel better getting that out.

How long did it take everyone else to get their special order rings? I should note that my ring size is 4 and was told they needed to start the ring from scratch.

Thanks!
Ella

Hmmm...you''re getting terrible customer service. Is it your jeweler or the designer that''s taking so long? I had a custom ring made for me in about five weeks from conception to my finger. My current ering was a designer setting made for my stone and finger in about three weeks.

At any rate, I hope you have a ring to show us in the very near future!

I would be getting pretty stressed out too. How long did they tell you it would take when you ordered it?

Yikes...that does sound like bad customer service.

The first email I sent to Whiteflash is dated Feb 16. They are making me a "semi-custom" setting. I just received an email saying they expect the ring to ship March 29th.....so that will be just about 6 weeks.

I think when it comes to our baubles we all get a little antsy in our pantsy....but they shouldn''t have told you it had shipped when it hadn''t. I hope you get it soon (Good Lord....you''ve been waiting for it long enough!!!)!!

The saga began in December when they told me that they could have the setting made in a few weeks which would''ve been the beginning of January. I didn''t call until the end of January because I figured they''d call me and three weeks did seem kind of short. I''ve followed-up several more times since then, always being told that it won''t take long.

I do know they''re giving me incredibly bad customer service and it''s crummy because I can''t just "return" it or tell them, "stuff you, I''ll take my business elsewhere" because it''s already being made so I''ve been very cordial so far. I don''t really know what to do if they tell me for a third time that it''s being shipped and it doesn''t arrive. My fiance jokes that I should demand a pair of diamond studs for my troubles. ;-)

I can''t wait to show everyone my ring! I wish that I had a photo but I was short-sighted and didn''t think to take a photo and it''s not on the Spectrum website. It looks a b it like this: http://www.diamondvues.com/350-a.jpg except it has a split shank.

Regards,
Ella

Oh gosh, I''d be going crazy! I would say 4-6 weeks would be a reasonable amount of time. It looks like it''s going to be gorgeous, I hope it''s finished and on it''s way soon!

Oooohhhhh.....that''s going to be pretty! I say just try and bite your tongue a little while longer. The closer it gets to actually being in your possession the more you want it--and the less patience you have for being "put off". If it doesn''t show up by early next week I would phone and speak with the manager. I hope it doesn''t come to that!

I don''t know, three months seems ridiculous. I would go elsewhere myself. What was the contracted amount of time? I don''t think it matters that it is "being made". They have not delivered on their contract and you should be able to walk.

3 months does seem like quite an unusually long time to wait - especially if they''re telling you one thing and not following through on it. I''m sorry you''re having to deal with this

I agree - when the formal order was drawn up did it clearly state when the delivery date would be? Having gone through problems with delivery for other life projects, I'm such a stickler for these things. I learned from my dad to also insert penalties for late delivery on deadlines. It gives the other side so much more incentive to finish ontime and at least if they don't, you get some sort of compensation for your wasted time, pain & suffering.

Lord knows I''m not the most patient person. I like to move fast. I''d say 6 weeks tops. I hope your wait isn''t much longer.

They didn''t call me today. I''m done waiting and I know that I can''t trust them to tell me the truth about when it will be here. 3 1/2 months is too long to wait. I''m going to ask for a refund on Monday. I feel crummy doing it, but I''ve had all the nonsense I can take!

I think you are doing the right thing. You have been more than patient and they can''t even call when they are supposed to. Shady, in my humble opinion.

Let us know how it goes. My blood is boiling just thinking about it. So sorry for you.

Yikes! Definitely time to move on to better things.

Anyone wanna bet that they start calling you everyday with updates once the threat of you leaving is hanging over their heads?

Total spin....is there any chance that your FF/FH intercepted and the ring IS actually completed but he wants the proposal to be a surprise? The vendor might have agreed to "fake" a delay. Doubt they would push it this far though and risk upsetting a customer.

We have seen it before!

Take your DF in with you. Talk to the manager and give them the exact dates and replies, or lack thereof, that you''ve received. It''s much harder for them to blow you off in person, especially with a threat of cancellation hanging over their head. This time get a date in writing.

Have you checked the BBB re this store? If they belong, you might even suggest you''re ready to lodge a complaint.
