I haven''t posted much, I know, but I have posted recently about issues with vendors first and then issues with settings, and some of you might be wondering how things are winding up...
We ended up working exclusively with Vendor A--Jim at DirtCheapDiamonds. My fiance did all of the legwork and negotiating, but in his estimation Jim''s service was absolutely top-notch. When we asked for pictures or information, we received it promptly. When he told Jim about the Tacori setting that was too expensive, he found us one that''s similar enough and within our price range, even in platinum. Without seeing the ring, we''re really impressed with Jim!
The gory details:
1.027 ct G SI2--it''s completely eye-clean. When you look at the magnified photos, it looks like there''s some dust on the picture, and none of the inclusions show up in the Idealscope. It''s not quite a true H&A, but that''s fine by me, it''s very close! It did score 4-X''s on the HCA, I can''t remember the actual number but it''s between 1.5 and 1.7.
The setting is platinum, with 0.43ct of pave diamonds set into the tops and sides of the shanks about halfway down. I''ll definitely post pictures (commercial and on-hand) once the ring arrives, which should be about two weeks. I can''t believe we finally found, after all this searching, what looks to be THE ring! I hope it''s as good in person as it''s supposed to be, from the pictures and the numbers...
Thanks to all the Pricescope folks for your help, both since I''ve been posting and since about November when I first found you--I got all of my diamond education here and I''d probably be wearing frozen spit without it!
