Been lurking these forums the past 3 months and have decided to purchase a round brilliant from GOG. Out of these three which would you choose? All are within my tight budget and would be going on a size 3.75 finger. :)

http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/10893/ 0.7ct H SI1 Premium Round Diamond $2,823
http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/10478/ 0.58ct G VS1 Superior Round Diamond $2,436
http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/9789/ 0.6ct E SI1 Superior Round Diamond $2,370

Thank you!! :D
Go with the h as long as its eye clean. Given with that tiny little finger bigger is better. :D

What setting would you use?

I don't have an opinion but I do have a question.

The third is a signature H&A but only gets VG symmetry from GIA. How is that posible?

I'm no expert, but the .58 seems to have the nicest hearts, but I probably wouldn't buy an E color. From the images, the .7 is my least favorite of the three but looks like the best buy. I'm sure it's a beautiful stone. Looks like you put it on hold? :appl:

Here is a fourth option and a video comparing them all:

http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/7459/ 0.61ct I VS1 Superior Round Diamond $1,990

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tOvJyZ0AGHg&feature=youtu.be

And yes I do have the 0.7ct H SI1 on reserve :D But wanted to confirm that decision among the experts...

Niel: The H is eye clean. I will upload the settings I have picked out from Gabriel when I get back home this evening.

Blackprophet: That's way over my head as well lol

Nicoleanne: After watching the video do you still feel the same way about the .7, don't be afraid of hurting my feelings just because that's the one I have on hold!

Thanks guys and keep it coming!

After looking at the images and the video, I would say, if you were going for absolute best performance, the 0.58 looks best to me. If you are going to size, well, 0.7 is the only option, and its a nice performer as well :) I think size often DOES matter, so i would recommend the 0.7 due to the nice size bump once you confirm its eye clean :)

On a side note, Strange how i prefer the performance/look of the 0.58 rather then the 0.6 which is a superior hearts and arrow cut... and i like the performance of the 0.61 I the least at all compared to the other 3... what do you guys feel after viewing the video ?

Don't worry, The question was for the experts

I would go with the H. I watched the video and they all looked very nice. I didn't see any significant performance differences.

I agree with Tyty. I looked at the video and though I could see a small difference in performance under the dim spotlights (scenario 2), you are rarely ever in that type of light. The most frequent lighting situation you will find yourself in is the first one (normal diffused) and they all perform very similarly there and under the brighter spotlighting (like restaurant lighting). I'd go for the H if it's eyeclean. It's bigger with not much difference in performance. I wouldn't pick a stone based on a nice hearts image. The video line up trumps that for me.

Yeah, like everyone above-- I couldn't see a performance difference but the bigger had more flash. :D Love it!

Well I feel much better after reading everyone's feedback! They did confirm that the .7 H was indeed eye clean and while it may not have been the best performer it definitely appears to be the best value in regards to size and performance. :D

I did stumble across another option a 0.81ct I SI1 Premium Round Diamond:
http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/10355/

Wondering if it's worth the extra $450 to get a slightly larger diamond? I know the web pages aren't as good as a video, but if I could get some opinions between the two I would be most appreciative! :)

Yes I do think when it comes to diamonds under 1ct a 0.1 ct increase does make a visible difference. Again, I'd go with the largest stone so I say that .8 if its eye clean.

I do think it would be worth it to hit the 6mm mark if its eye clean.

Ditto.

I agree...its nice to hit the 6mm mark.

Well I completely agree with the last 4 posters that it would be sweet to hit that 6 mm mark, but I just took a major hit to my 4K budget. She has an allergic reaction to certain meals so while I knew it would be more for the platinum I wasn't expecting it to be $950 more. With that being said the three .6'sh one's are still affordable for me and the .7 would be a stretch, especially since the platinum band will have a nice premium as well.

This is the setting I plan on getting:
http://www.gabrielny.com/engaged/style/ER7981W44JJ

However on a positive note, she had mentioned that she wanted the diamond size to be tasteful which goes very well with her personality. She isn't the big flashy look at what I have type. She wears a size 3.5 band and has long skinny fingers so I think a .6-.7 will look perfect. Based on one of those carat weight finger size charts (if those are even reliable) it says a .63 on her finger would look like a 1 ct on a size 6.

I don't know how many times I have watched that video trying to find a difference between the first 3 with my eyes. I guess I am just so lost as to what i'm supposed to be looking for.

http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/10478/ 0.58ct G VS1 Superior Round Diamond $2,436
http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/9789/ 0.6ct E SI1 Superior Round Diamond $2,370
http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/7459/ 0.61ct I VS1 Superior Round Diamond $1,990

For the $380-446 between the .6's and $833 for the .7 I just want to make sure I am getting the most real world value for my money as opposed to something you only see in a lab test. My only concern for the .61 is the color, I see that it is an "I" and am afraid it may have a more yellow tint in person than it does in the video. The band will be platinum and the sidestones are a D I believe, so i'm not sure how that will affect the appearance of the center stone.

It kind of stinks that so much of the budget is taken for the setting, but I do like the lifetime guarantee on the diamonds so there is the option to trade up later on down the line (though I have a feeling she will be too sentimental to want to do that which is the only thing making me want to stretch for the .7).

Sorry for the long rant and I regret not coming to you guys sooner with these question I've been having way to much anxiety for something that is supposed to be fun and enjoyable! Thanks for your time and input and have a great weekend! :)

I color should be fine, I really doubt Gabriel uses D color melee.

With such a tiny finger you might go with a thinner (and cheaper) ring. Maybe something like this:
http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/0.80-carat-i-color-si1-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-223846
http://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/pave/platinum-thin-french-cut-pave-set-diamond-engagement-ring-item-2018
Or milgrain this one and it will look similar to the setting you chose.

i LOVE that stone and the second setting (needs millgraining i think though) and with a pricescope and wire discount i bet its 4k

heres a picture of my .84 ct K, does not look yellow AT ALL in that size, so an I shouldnt be any problem.
