GOP: President Trump's renomination vote to be held in private
It would be the first nominating convention in modern history to be closed to reporters. But a Republican official said a decision isn't final.

The vote to renominate Trump will be held privately ...It will mark the first party nominating convention in modern history to be closed to reporters.
Is this as strange as I think it is? A large gathering during the pandemic isn't a good idea, obviously, but why wouldn't it just be televised instead?
(Does it possibly indicate that they plan to announce a resignation instead?)
Thoughts?
