I''d read from several forum that total depth of diamond = crown height+girdle thickness+pavillion depth.
However I came across a website saying that''s not accurate way of finding total depth instead they use formula to calculate it
by using average diameter/depth x100

which way has more accuracy. Thanks in advance.

The second way (but corrected to depth/ave diameter x 100) will accurately give you the depth % you see around the place (for rounds ie.)

The first way I use more for estimating the average bezel girdle width from the depth % and the average crown and pavilion heights (but note this is different to the variety of girdle widths you'll see on reports).

For a round it is the depth / by average diameter

For other shapes it is the depth / smallest diameter

Some squarish propritary fancy shape stones cheat and use corner instead of smallest diameter

Adding the other #''s has inherent errors, but in theory gets you the same #.
Often this # will be 1.6% or 1.7% less because of girdle measurment placement (valleys or thicker parts)
