I know this probably belongs in the current thread about the Queen's jewels, but I wanted to highlight it in a new thread so that no one misses it, as I think most of us are probably interested!

I shouldn't wonder if the Queen has left particular personal items of jewelry to particular relatives. It will be interesting to see them appear on the potential recipients over the coming couple of years. I'm curious about who will get her engagement ring! I wonder if Princess Anne will get it, to be passed to Zara Philips, since she has much less access to jewels than women in the direct line (ie Camilla, Kate, and Kate's daughter when older).

i m sure Queen Camila will enjoy the brooches, i just hope Kate will too

i am sure the Queen has given it much thought as to who gets what

but it is my wish that a royal jewlery foundation is set up along the lines of what the Swedish royals have (where pieces can be lent out and shared amoungst the royal ladies) so significant pieces are not lost a generation latter as descendants removed from the main line struggle to pay inheritance tax and have no need for grand jewles
The Kent family are a prime example of this
HRH Prince Edward Duke of Kent is the grandson of George V and Queen Mary, his father being the son of a soverign, saddy as his mother was in effect a war widow they seemed to struggle finacially (compaired to their cousins) and pieces have continusly ended up on the auction block

Princess Ann's children Peter and Zara will at some point have to pay inheritance tax just like Princess Margarte's children David and Sarah did, and they did that via the auction block

i think the Queen's ER should stay in the main line
but what will be will be as per HM's wishes

I read somewhere that Charles intended to turn Balmoral into a museum. My guess is that the Queen's engagement ring and other sentimental items from her marriage will go to the Balmoral museum. I don't see something that significant to her, and which is such an iconic part of her, being passed down through the family.
