The Official TTC Thread!

As far as our pups being jealous... they are jealous of each other, so I am hoping they''ll be ok with a baby. They have always done really well with friends'' kids/babies, so we are hopeful. My little one, Oliver, definately is a Velcro dog! I can''t even go into the kitchen for a glass of water with out him getting up and following.

This is the only pic I have of them on this computer... some might recognize if from BWW.

Happy I love that picture!!! I know your faces are probably in the acutal photo, but that one seems to be from another dogs perspective, focused on the people who really matter--the pups! haha

GAH! Your puppins are SO cute, HIL. And your nails! Wowee! how do you keep them so nice? Mine are a wreck.

Littlelyser-we went to Kauai for our honeymoon too (popular spot) where did you stay? I agree that it''s the absolute best place!

Pave-How are you feeling? how many weeks are you now? with all the new preggos I can''t keep everyone straight!

DD-Hoonan Banana? That cracks me up.

Lisa-How''s it going today? I think diamonds are a great distraction
9.gif

Thanks DD- We love this photo, but that is the whole thing! We used it as our STD for the wedding, which made everyone laugh.
ETA: thanks Indy... as for my nails, they always look best before an event and/or photo. On any given day they are not as fresh :)

mela lu..i just wanted to reiterate what the others have said. your attitude is inspiring, honestly it''s so wonderful to see someone take such a positive attitude towards this situation. we''re all rooting for you and are here for you if you need to chat, vent or simply lurk
1.gif

Happy-what a cute picture! I love the dog''s perspective!!
Max follows me EVERYWHERE. Poor dog can be in a dead sleep, if I get up to go anywhere he follows me. I do at least have him trained to stop at the bathroom door. He knows not to enter. Before we bought our house we were in an apartment, and for whatever reason DH and i decided to trade closets (one in the master bedroom, one in the guest bedroom) so I spent the day walking from room to room switching out the clothes and shoes, and that dog followed me the entire time!

Mela- how are you today? I''ve been thinking about you. Have you been to the doctor yet?

Happy...I didn''t know you had a yorkie! How adorable??? Our yorkie, Harry, is the same way as Oliver...he is so clingy and MUST always be the center of attention. Also, he has the worst serperation anxiety...he gets sooo worked up when we have to leave our condo. Poor guy!

See what happens when I do actual work?

LL, I''d LOVE anything you can tell me about Kauai! There are three things we PLAN on doing: booked one Luau with Smith Family (DH eats me, I don''t, but whatever, it''s his vacation, too!), I want to get a banana pancake from somewhere (I am SO a dessert lover), and I NEED a shave ice. DH''s plans (other than the luau)involve musubi (spam sushi), beaches, water and BBQ. He''s a food lover.
1.gif
Oh, and I''d love to have a good Japanese dinner!

I''ve always loved your dogs, my dad needs a pet and wants an Ibizan (he previously had pointers and bullmastiffs, it''s hilarious watching him maneuver around a dachshund!).

I''m currently wearing a rubberband wrapped around my ring finger. It feels almost the same! I realize I have a nervous habit of sliding them up and down on my finger with the thumb on my left hand. I had NO idea.

Anyone else on prenatals pre-preggo? Mine are making my nails grow like weeds, but also my gray hairs! Stupid inherited gray streak
29.gif

Yep, my nails grow way too fast to keep up with them. And my hair. Funny that you brought up grey hairs, I haven''t had mine highlighted since April and am waiting to see what a week in the sun on vacation does to my hair, as I think it might lighten it enough that I can skip highlighting. Anyway, the other night I *thought* I found a grey, it was so hard to tell and I think it''s just a blonde (have highlighted my hair for so long I''m not entirely sure what the natural will grow out as and how light the sun will get it)Anyway, that would be just my luck to decide to stop highlighting and then find greys!!! (anyone see the Seinfeld episode where Elaine is dating someone who shaves their head bald, then she convinces him to grow his hair out and he finds out that now he IS bald)

I had an inch wide chunk in the front of my hair that''s gray. The rest is pitch black, and it''s SO annoying. If I let it grow out I''ll look like Lily Munster or the bride of Frankenstein.

Amber- I've been taking prenatals for about 5 weeks, but haven't noticed faster growing hair/nails.
7.gif
I was sort of hoping I would, maybe it just hasn't been long enough? ETA: sorry bout the pesky grays!

BB- I love your avatar pic of Harry (cute name too) Doesn't it break your heart to leave him sometimes? Ollie is so small I used to try to bring him places with me, but he is too wild and doesn't like to be confined to his carrier. DH says I need to remember he is a dog.

So, I think I will O around July 2... we are leaving for my cousin's wedding on the 11th. Do you think there is a chance I can poas that early? I plan on nursing one glass of wine for most of the night either way (do not want to draw the attention by refusing wine with dinner... just isn't like me
2.gif
) but it would be great to know before we go.

Happy, I know I''ve been on them for about three months now. I didn''t notice it until a month or so ago, so perhaps it''s just building up?

Also: my prenatals make my pee bright yellow. GROSS and shocking all in one.

I''m also supposed to O'' on July 1 or 2! I don''t know about POAS, though. I''m unskilled at that. AF shows up on clockwork, the evil

hey gals!

happy: i absolutely adore the picture you posted. too adorable and i love that it''s cropped! great shot. we''ve contemplated getting another pup, but right now we have a very mellow 7 yr old retriever mix, live in a smallish apartment and lead hectic lives. perhaps when i go on maternity leave might be a good time - or that might be taking on too much!

i''m on prenatals - have been for a while now and can''t really see a huge difference in my hair/nails. my hair has always grown pretty slowly though. i am super excited that i have a hair appointment this saturday!! it''s been far too long! i get highlights (but only about twice a year) and i just got the chance to spend a weekend outdoors and it made my hair noticably lighter so maybe i''ll skip the processing it this appointment.

not much else to report except that i''m going back and forth about whether or not to try this month or just wait to july (when i would have gotten my *hopefully* fine annual results back...decisions. decisions.

Lulu, I hear ya on the to wait or not debate. We had initially thought August for us, then July, then just went off the pill early this year to "just see", and well, just seeing has gotten us nowhere!
1.gif
So I''m kind of glad I didn''t wait.

Someone mentioned awhile back, if you''re okay with getting pregnant now should it happen quickly, then go ahead and take the chance.

Sometimes I still freak out about parenthood, but then I remember all those years of nannying (preemies, twins, singles) and feel better.

DD - We've thought and thought about what kind of dog Crick might be...we think she may be a dashcie/whippet mix. In fact, sometimes we call her a dippet. Because we are fools.

HIL - I LOVE LOVE LOVE that std card. SO awesome! I love the looks on the puppers' faces! Great photo!

Tiffany - We stayed at the Grand Hyatt in Poipu. Where did you guys stay? We loved the island. Loved it. I miss it almost every day!

Indy - We love that silly Izzie too! He's an awesome pup. So so so quirky. He has recently decided that he is afraid of our hardwood stairs, despite the fact that he has NEVER fallen down the stairs, and he will not longer walk down. Thus, my DH has to carry our 60 lb Izzard downstairs every morning. It is quite a picture.

Amber - I've been taking prenatals for about a month. I'm still waiting for the fabulous long and strong nails. Right now I am still in short and weak nail-land. We love having an Ibizan. Our breeder described them as "relics with a sense of humor" and it is completely true. And they are definitely sighthounds...which means they tend to be independent and very strong willed. If your dad has any questions about the breed, or breeders, for that matter, I'd be more than willing to answer them.

As for Kauai. Ohhhhh Kauai. best place ever. We checked out The Ultimate Kauai Guidebook before we went. We found it very helpful for ideas about what we wanted to do and where we wanted to go. Beyond that, here are a couple of suggestions...

Waimea Canyon - Amazing. Mark Twain called it the grand canyon of the pacific. It is absolutely awe inspiring! The road on the way up really winds around...and made me a bit carsick, but it was totally worth it. There is also a little place called the Shrimp Station in Waimea - great coconut shrimp! Lots of locals...Fun stuff.

Napali Coast - IMHO, this is a MUST DO! You can only get there via boat, helicopter or hiking like 14 miles each way! We went via boat and I'm telling you, it was some of the most beautiful coast I've ever seen. It was lovely. We took tons of pictures, but nothing comes close to capturing the beauty of it. DH and I both thought it was take your breath away beautiful.

Poipu Beach is a great place for easy snorkeling and doing some relaxing and swimming. Many of the beaches on Kauai aren't so good for swimming because the current and rip tide are too strong. But Poipu beach was great. There are also some really lovely sunsets there. We saw lots and lots of Hawaiian Monk Seals there as well.

Spouting horn is another attraction worth seeing. It is a natural rock formation in the coast and when the tide comes in it looks lie a geyser and makes crazy sounds. It is a quick stop, but worth checking out.

We stayed on the southern end of the island, in Poipu and I'm quite ashamed to admit that we didn't make it up to the northern part of the island...we had a lot relaxing in the sun to do! But I've heard from friends that Hanalei is supposed to be LOVELY and green and rainy and rainbow-y and very very different from the southern part, which is much drier.

As for food - we liked Roy's and Casa De Amici - both of which are on the southern part of the island. Again, we didn't head north, but I've heard from several people that Sushi & Blues is some good eats too. Oh, and the Shrimp Station! As for shave ice, we went to Jojo's shave ice in Waimea - after the Shrimp Station - it was a day of good eats! I'll keep thinking about other places we loved...but really and truly, I love Kauai and I think it is the most Hawaiian and lovely of the islands. I want to go back! NOW! sigh.
39.gif

ETA - We didn't eat any Japanese while there...so I don't have any suggestions on that one. My one knock on Kauai is that it isn't as gastronomically awesome as the other islands. I think only 50k people live on the island and it just isn't as developed and commercialized. Don't get me wrong, we ate very well, but wasn't the high point of the trip, if that makes sense.

LL, thanks for the tips! We picked up the Ultimate Guidebook, and we get excited just reading about it. We''re staying in the northern tip, in Princeville. You''re making me very excited to go, though! I''m hungry just thinking about it (actually, I''m just hungry period).

I think that both DH and I are prepared to get pregnant - my hold up for this month would just be to wait and make sure that i get a clean bill of health back from my drs. visit yesterday...

Lulu, how soon will you find out? Did they have to do the blood tests and things? I had to wait FOREVER, and then the just MAILED them to me! I was crazed.

days. I didn''t have any bloodwork...

It''s like i flip flop every five minutes. Part of me is like - just go for it - and the other part is well you''ve waited this long what''s one more month.

whenever i do jump on this TTC train, i am NOT looking forward to the knitting time...at all.

Hi friends!!!
I'm back from the GPs office - with great news. She feels that my body is naturally expelling all of the 'products of conception' and that I won't need a D&C. yey! I'm going for a blood test next week to check my HCG levels, and then I'm going to follow up with bloodtests every week until my HCG level goes down to Zero. She said once I hit Zero, and have a normal period, then I can start TTC! yey :) Keep those knitting needles handy girls - I'll be using them again with you in no time ;) I'm guessing in 2 or 3 months!

That's my update! Thanks for listening girls.

I'm happy for the 'barely preggo thread'. I think it's a great transition for so many reasons (m/c included) as this isn't really the best place to talk about it with all you knitter having your own issues to talk about... without ex-Jerkstores like me being a Debbie-Downer
2.gif
LOL.

Hey Mela, I was just reading that couples are often SUPER fertile just after a m/c. Not like it took you long to get knocked up the first time around, Jerkstore!
20.gif

Glad to hear your doc said your body has the situation under control. Stay strong, sister! But at the same time, make sure you let yourself mourn when you find you need to.

I also think the ''newly preggo'' thread makes sense, partly because m/c is probably topmost in all the newly preggo minds, and it''s good to have somewhere to talk about early stuff, before, y''know, nurseries and breastfeeding are even on the table.

Great idea DD! I feel a little swamped on the prego thread, and it seems like there are more new mommies than pregos!

LL, I looooove your puppinses soooo much! Izzy is one of my faves EVER!

Hey Erica, I don''t want to freak you out or anything, but I think I know how to reach you off PS and wondered if it would be OK to send you an e-mail, so that maybe we can hook up in Beantown sometime over bulging bellies and ice creams. I won''t be living in Boston, but I will be in your neck of town now and then while I''m living on the east coast. Didn''t want to send it till you give the nod, so that, y''know, you don''t feel creeped out or anything. I totally understand if you prefer to keep it anonymous. TOTALLY. So don''t hesitate to say so.
Hey Indy--

You can totally contact me. I think I know how you think you know how to reach me. Hehehe...

Ps. you and Erica and your secret rendevous have me curious. You two are like, magical and mysterious to me now. I won''t ask any questions, but just know, I have my eyes on you magic miracle workers

Well I am an enabler, but after thinking about TTC for like 6 months I know how you feel! I say go for it unless you have reason to believe you have health problems. And yuppers the 2ww sucks big time. I was always so anxious during that phase I couldn''t sleep in and would wake so early. But it is unfortunately a necessary evil.

I just got out my knitting needles.

Happy, what a cute picture! And LittleLysser, your dogs are gorgeous.

Our cattle dog is a velcro dog. He''s fiercely protective of Dylan and our guess is that he''d be the same way with our baby.

Lulu, we kept pushing our TTC date up and then just decided to go for it. We did wait 1.5 yrs from the time the baby fever hit to when we started, so we felt ready.

I think that the newly preggo thread makes a lot of sense.

Shucks....can I post on the barely preggo thread even though I have follicles?

I guess my category is very pre-preggo but not dormant either????

Ahh the TTC limbo.

My follicles are heavy and making me say/do weird things - I'm a total fuit loop!

Will post more after family dinner.

Triplets what if I have Triplets!!!!!!!! This has also been the thought of the day.

TRIPLETS.

Yikes!

So I have a question for you guys...I tried to sign up to fertility friend today and it wouldn't let me do it! And it told me I needed a referral from a friend or something. I don't understand why...Has this happened to anyone else?

ETA - nevermind...it just worked. WEIRD!
