The Official TTC Thread!

Cara, I agree with you. I think one of the problems is that because I''m SO educated in this I''m like, what? What do you mean it didn''t take? Hello booody... I''ve done the tests and stuff, but if there is no baby in the works 12 mos after trying, I can have the fertility stuff looked at, since 12 mos is when they consider you having fertility issues at 28. So that''ll be fun.

I really want to apologize to all the TTCers who are pregnant, I am truly sorry for peeing on your parades.
7.gif
Seriously.
Amber, I know it is annoying to hear this from me since I got the BFP, but I know how you feel! While I was away I lurked on here and saw Erika, and Indy get their BFPs, and SBDE announce her news, and at that time I was CERTAIN that AF would come today and that I was not preggers... and I felt so depressed and I was thinking I would need to take a break from TTC and maybe even PS because it was just so depressing. I cried a little too. This is a stressful process! If your friends can''t be considerate of your feelings when you tell them how you feel, than you are totally within your rights to distance from them a little.

But there is no reason to think that you will have issues yet, really. For one, your charts are lovely and you O every month and have a nice long LP. Second, I am pretty sure I recall you saying that last month you were sick and this month you were worried about insurance, so maybe you didn''t DTD enough in the fertile window?? I am sure that next month when circumstances are better you can "apply yourselves" to the task and make sure you get all your BDing in. There is your homework assignment! Tired-schmired, sick-schmick, get crackin''!

I think frequest BD is the key... For all you data monkies, here is a stat: On FF, if you search the chart gallery, 34% are pregnancy charts. If I search for charts with a BD pattern like mine (i.e., every day in the fertile window), that number increases to 47%... I know it isn''t a controlled sample, but 13% increase in pregnancy odds is impressive!

At my age, the average months TTC (AVERAGE mind you!) is 6-8. My friend J tried for 14 months before getting pregnant with her son. My friend T has been trying (with a miscarriage in the middle) for about a year. She already has one little girl, though.

It will happen. And I have gone through this scenario so many times in my mind, convincing myself it would take a year or more, that I really do know how you must feel.
15.gif

But it WILL happen!

Thanks everyone. I really do hate being like this! I'm usually the peppiest person ever, but it's harder right now because I'm psycho. IG, we've been actively trying with charts for a few months, before that it was "see what happens". So not long at all. I just fear a lot because my mom had trouble conceiving my brother and I, and had a few miscarriages, so now I'm all up in arms about it.
20.gif
I would slap myself if I were you guys.

Good to know that I can go in with charts in another few months and ask for help. Not that we can afford fertility treatments, but it'll be nice to have some anyalsis done.

DD, perhaps you're right about not going full-steam the last couple of months (turns out I've been insured since May 1st which is when my LAST plan ended, worried for nothing! Sons of bitches!!), but I think this vacation will be a good time for us, which is why I was annoyed at FF telling me I'll O'late along with AF coming later (assumed from LP, I think)- we won't be on VACATION then!

I'm really sorry everyone, it's just hard trying to help my preggo friends with their pregnancies, since I know so much, and then they actually try to say "Well, you don't really KNOW, though, do you?" Friendly, right? Yes, I'm not actually pregnant, but what do you think I spent the last 6mos of my wedding planning on? Not that damn wedding, i can tell you.

I really am sooo happy for all your preggos, though! Yes, despite my snarkitude.
11.gif
Don't kick me off the island!

ETA: and I accidentally peed on my shoe at work. Long story, small amount, digusted with myself.
29.gif

Oh my god! You mean POAS doesn't stand for 'Pee on a shoe'?!? I am SO embarrassed!

Seriously though, you just gotta laugh at yourself, hon, not be mad at yourself. Life is ridiculous sometimes. The more ridiculous, the more you should get a laugh out of it.

Seriously though, Amber, once you've been trying in a targeted way for 4-6 months, bring those charts in to your doc and figure out what's what. Probably everything is FINE! And if it isn't, most problems can be overcome. Heck, look at you and your brother! You came along just fine!

IG, seriously. And to think, all those times I peed in a cup, it was going the wrong way!

Amber

Thank you for the best laugh of the day!!

So strangely articulate and hilarious for having peed on your shoe - I gotta hear that story!

Oh the bittersweet world of PS and TTC!!!

I can''t say that I haven''t been envious
27.gif
of all the BFPers in the last 2 days but
it is what it is. And I''m so glad that PS girlies are going to populate the world w/ their educated, overly-analytical,
dare I say compulsive seedlings.

What a group we are.

As for someone who''s in the throws of artificial insemination I can say that I''ve gone pretty far
down that rabbit hole of fertility.

Really, a healthy couple has 15-20% chance in any given cycle. You just haven''t "hit it" yet.

We are the most infertile species on the planet!!

Well just got back from RE and I have...........3 follicles!!!!!OMG!!!! 9mm, 10mm & 14mm - lft. ovary.

He may trigger them to O on Friday night. So 2 more nights of injections.

At my age (39) chance of multiples is low but still there. Yikes!!!

(Don''t worry Amber go see the doc after 1 yr of TTC if under 35)

Oh Lisa, I so hope the best for you and your poking. Of the needle kind.

Lisa: Yippee for the follies! Woo hoo! Just wait, it''ll be triplets for you! How long after the trigger do you O? How do you know when to DTD?

Lisa - that''s so cool. Best of luck to you my dear - I''ll be rooting for you and your 3 follies! Let''s hope the spermies can find they''re way!
2.gif
I''m tell''n ya, if women were the one''s who produced sperm, we''d hit the egg every single time! Just like a man to produce something that seems to always get lost and NOT ask for directions...sheesh!

The trigger is pure HCG in the buttocks (I think) - a rather long needle! This pic. is FSH pen

Gonna make DH practice on an orange
32.gif
.

I think u O 24-36 hrs. later just like OPK''s but very precise!

That''s why they do the insemination the next day after the trigger.

RN told me to BD before 2nd US b/c it usually means RE will trigger soon and you''ll have spermies waiting in case you O early.

So - BD tomorrow PM.

US Friday - possibly trigger.

IUI Sat maybe.

More BD after this to cover all bases.

Thanks for the cheers!!!!!

Another pic of FSH needle.

Eeeeeeeeek! Needles! *swoon*

Man alive, Lisa, where do you have to jab that thing?? I hope it works this time, but it sounds like the plan of 4 rounds is a good one... that is a good balance of maximizing odds without going too crazy with time/energy/sanity/money!

Hi all.

I''ve been lurking here for a few weeks...and I guess I''m sort of throwing my hat into the ring, so to speak.

Congrats to all the newly preggo ladies! That is so exciting!

Back story - DH and I got married last September. Been together for 7 years. Up until two year ago, I was convinced I didn''t want a child. Well, in some crazy maelstrom of hormones, job and family changes, falling in love with DH(and seeing what an amazing dad he''ll be) and falling in love with some of my friends'' children...I''ve had quite a change of heart. DH has been pretty amazing, considering that he was also on the no baby train...we''ve talked and talked and talked...and well, here we are.

I went off of BC three cycles ago. This past cycle was the first cycle we didn''t use protection...and we BD''d every day or every other for the 10 days mid-cycle...

I have to confess that I haven''t been charting or anything like that - for some reason it scares me! I think it may be partially due to the fact that I''m still a bit scared of TRYING trying...which is weird, I know. I''m still trying to wrap my mind around the fact that I want to get pregnant...something I tried to prevent for most of my adult life! Also, I''d like to lose some weight before getting preggo. But I''d be thrilled if I got preggo now instad of later. I''d imagine that if after a few months I''m not preggo, then we''ll start charting and that sort of thing.

I''m CD 19 right now and knitting away.

Can a non-charter still be a member of the PSTTC Club?

Welcome LittleLysser!

Plenty of room here in the PSTTC club. Got your knitting needles ready? Good luck!

Amber, I snorted diet sunkist when I read you peed on your shoe. Details please!

Lisa, good luck. I think that is so cool that they can ultrasound and tell you how many follicles!

Littlelyser-welcome to the club!

All right, all right...

The Pee Shoe Story:

I am obsessive compulsive. I eat strangely, do odd things when walking (not stepping on cracks, or stepping on a certain place because I just FEEL like I have to step there, and if i don't I'll have to go back and do it- scary), and have a real issue in the bathroom.
20.gif

I can't use the restroom if someone else is in there, and can NOT sit all the way down on the seat. It's just gross. Even with seat protectors (they always stick to my butt), I can't. So, after checking the restroom was empty, I went in to do my business. I was squatting (lovely word) with my skirt pulled down, on my tiptoes (I'm short), and well, I sneezed. I faltered, fell forward, got my legs trapped in my skirt (note to self: looser skirt from now on) and peed on my shoe. Good thing I need my restroom to be empty because you should have HEARD what came out of my mouth.

And that's the story.
9.gif

Wondering how I managed to con my husband into marrying me? I am!

Good Lord - so sorry Little for potentially scaring u away from us w/ the needles and syringes and all...

I do forget that people lurk...what must they think?

It''s actually about 1/2" but very thin. I grab a piece of abdomen between my fingers and push it in - then 4 clicks of the plunger.

All done! Just feels like pressure. They give u a sharps container for disposal.

I''ve never been afraid of this sort of thing. I''m actually quite fascinated by it all.

I''m my own experiment.

Little welcome
35.gif
we would love to hear your journey here.

I don''t chart either but mainly b/c I get up at crazy times (baby) and u need like 3 hrs of uninterrupted sleep.

But there are many other things that are fertility signs where charting can be helpful.

Fertility Friend is free.

Wait for the pic. of the HCG needle......Whoa!

Lisa - 3 is a very lucky number

Hoping for the best!

Welcome llittleysser - i''m glad that you''re here and i''m only a partial charter at best. i don''t temp, but try to stay aware of the CM so i know when to hit the sheets.

amber - i think that it''s perfectly appropriate to vent on this thread. i don''t think that you are raining on anyone''s parade - those new-moms-to-be are certainly able to empathize that this process can be a rollercoaster of emotions. i''m about to join the fray and i''m slightly terrified. okay very terrified that it''s not going to take. hope your shoe is a bit drier
3.gif

so my pre-conception/annual was nothing too interesting...

i''m on CD9 so it''s kind of decision time about whether DH and I are going to TTC this go-around...

Amber!!!!

I posted my prev. message w/o reading "The Shoe Diary"!!!!!!!

I''m going to Hell but I laughed and laughed.

I could picture the whole thing. Totally something I would do.

I hope the shoes weren''t your favorite and if its any consolation urine is sterile.
37.gif

And about the OCD, I don''t like odd number''s, hate stains of any kind - good luck w/ a baby right?, especially on clothes
& sometimes won''t eat ice cream b/c it melts
19.gif
oh and if toast cools down won''t eat it either. I could go on but u get the picture.

Awww, Lisa! Now that''s what I call taking one for the team. Ouch!

littlelysser Yippee, another dog-lover in the club! You know, you really don''t need to chart if you don''t want to, that is not at all required to time your BD for the right phase in your cycle. All you really need to do is monitor your cervical fluid (www.fertilityfriend.com is free and will tell you how to monitor your CF). Although every other day for the middle 10 days of your cycle *probably* covers you, if for some reason you were a later ovutator it is possible that you could miss the egg... but if you monitor your CF and DTD every day it is watery or egg-whitey, which is usually a 2-6 day period of time, plus the two subsequent days to cover your bases, then you are good to go!

Hey guys! Just wanted to share my updated, slightly dismal and erratic chart. At least only one of my temps has been above 98 though. I''m hoping to ovulate this month and just have a long cycle, but if I don''t it will be okay since this is my first month off BC. I didn''t write down BD because we''re using condoms until Sept.

My boobs are really hurting right now, which is weird because that never happens to me. Maybe that''s a sign that I''m ovulating soon?

Hi Girls. we''ll, sadly...i''m baaaaaaaaaaaaack. I lost the baby today. What started out as light bleeding turned to heavy blood loss and excrutiating cramping. I ''passed'' the embryo at 2pm but I''m going to my Dr. tomorrow to confirm the miscarriage.

being a jerkstore comes with consequences i see (LOL) ahhaha.

Amber, your pee story put a smile on my sad face. thanks!!!

DH and I are going to lay low, but we''ll be back TTC when the time is right.

Good luck with your knitting girls! and Lisa, EEK on those shots! It''ll be so worth it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

xox

Aww, Mela, I am soooo sorry.
39.gif
I hope you''re holding up OK and that your DH is taking good care of you. My thoughts are with you.

Mela

Being a Jerkstore is such a great thing! I hope to be one very soon.

Unfortunately being a woman can totally suck!

So completely sorry.
15.gif

Be gentle with yourself and hang out whenever u want for whatever reason.

We''re here if u want to vent, share or read silently.

Thinking of you and DH.

Mela I am so sorry honey, that is just heartbreaking. I know you were just kidding when you said being a jerkstore has it''s price, but please please don''t think for one little second that you did anything to cause this or that you could have done anything differently to have a different outcome. These things just happen, more often than any of us want to admit or acknowledge, and there is nothing we can do about it. Take your time to grieve your loss and regain your balance and delightful outlook on life, then get back on the TTC train when you are ready! Two of my close friends suffered early m/c''s with their first pregnancies, and both got pregnant again soon after. I know it will happen for you again as soon as you are ready!

{{{HUGS}}}

JERKSTORE''S UNITE!!

Congratulations dreamer!

Lisa, great news on the 3 follicles! I hope it works this month.

Lots of baby dust to everyone else TTC!

Peony, when you say this is your first cycle off bcp, do you mean you stopped taking pills less than a month ago and CD-1 was the period you had at the end of the pill cycle, or do you mean that you had a period at the end of your last pack of pills, and CD-1 of this cycle was 28 days (or whatever) later? If you are counting CD-1 as the period at the end of your pill pack, then don''t be surprised if you have an anovulatory cycle this time around, it isn''t a problemo at all... The period you have in the week after you stop taking bcp isn''t really a period, it is called anovulatory bleeding, and it is highly possible that the first 4 weeks after coming off the pill is your body getting back on track. I didn''t chart my first 4 weeks off the pill, but I now suspect that I had an anovulatory cycle. Like you mention, in that first cycle, my boobs really hurt for like 15 days of the cycle, and that was very odd for me!

Anyways, just thought I''d mention that so you don''t get discouraged if your temps keep looking like a roller coaster, it is really common for that to happen immediately after stopping bcp. Or you mad find that after a couple weeks they straighten out! I think that Amber had a really rocky start to the first cycle she temped. Are you using a basal thermometer?

Whatever is up, don''t worry! It took my body three all-natural cycles to normalize!

Hi DD! Yeah, it's the former (I've been off BC for less than a month). Thanks for your encouraging words! I'm using a basal thermometer and it seems to be pretty accurate because sometimes I temp twice in a row just to make sure, and it's pretty much never more than .1 away. I guess that I'll just have to keep plugging along!

And Mela, I'm realllly sorry about your miscarriage. *Hugs*

P.S. What's a jerkstore?
