Certainly many beautiful things there.

But it's just too much, especially inside.
Overload - over the top!

Just looking at the pics makes me dizzy; I think actually being in those rooms would be overwhelming to the point of being disturbing.

Visiting Disneyland for a few hours is one thing, but I prefer to live in a peaceful space.
To me it feels like this house is vibrating, screaming even.

I see your point, but it’s an art gallery now, being sold as a house. I don’t think the paintings are included in the price. Though I wouldn’t mind keeping a few of them!

I like it!
Built in 1905.....!

I wonder how much this house would cost if it were located on Central Park West or the Upper East Side instead of in Fort Wayne, Indiana?
Hmm...

I don’t know if I’d pay more than 1mil for a house without an attached garage.....

Love all the wood molding! I would try to get the canopy bed thrown in :kiss2:

I think I need the male legs and feet table on the right side of photo #7.

Gorgeous! I love old stone homes like that. It was a popular style where I grew up.

YaHahahaha, I was beginning to think, just how many still life with flowers can one person reasonably have before it borders on the grotesque? The art gallery makes so much more sense
Otherwise, that house is beautiful and it's 80+ yrs newer than mine!

its beautiful!! sure, it's a little "busy" but still beautiful, nonetheless.
the stained glass is  the handsome exterior, the turrets, the lush mature landscape, all that gorgeous solid wood molding and column accents, the coffered and beamed ceilings, it just looks of quality. i wonder if furnishings are included ...

I wouldn't live in a house made of stone (or brick) because of earthquake
But it is very handsome inside

Im.confused about how much it costs
I detest real estate listings where they are too lazy to write the entire amount

Fort Wayne isn’t really prone to earthquakes, but I see your point. You never know...

I think they’re asking $1,290,000 USD.

Too much brown for my liking!

DK :lol-2:

It's a beautiful house and would make a great HTV show if someone had another $500,000 for renovating and redecorating (like getting rid of all that brown carpet for starters :eek-2: , new kitchen, etc). The thing that would bother me aside from the price is that this huge house is on a tiny .28 acre lot.

Do the Keebler Elves live there?

@diamondseeker2006

yes, i agree all carpeting needs to be removed. and original floors restored if it is in good shape otherwise install new hardwood. the kitchen definitely needs help. its probably the worst room in the house. i'd try to retain as much of the period charm as possible and not make the kitchen too contemporary or modern. but appliances need to be up to modern day function.

i just love love doing homes ...

It’s not my cup of tea, but I can certainly appreciate the craftsmanship that’s gone in to it. It seems pretty cheap for a house that size, but of course I don’t know the area.

Haha it all depends where you live. We did. :wink2:

Yes, this house is a masterpiece and I would LOVE to restore it to it's original splendor but bring it into this century too. Need all modern appliances and electricity and plumbing and of course the wood floors all need to be brought out from under the carpet and restored. What a dream it would be. And the price is amazing but again it is all about location. Oh well. I hope whoever buys it will restore it to splendid glory.:kiss2:

Please tell us about your house!!

It's just a really old, super basic New England farmhouse that's about 195 yrs old or so. It's not fancy by any stretch, no fancy woodwork or windows, smallish cutoff rooms, but it was pretty important to the town and has a lot of history. We also own what used to be the general store/dancehall/post office built 25yrs later on the property and run by the same family from the @1850 all the way to the 1980's. We use it as a giant barn. This was/is part of a larger tourist area that was much more of a to-do back then. Their descendants/friends still live here and they all came to tell us about the family the house was named for, stories about going to the store, stories about dances they went to and stories about playing in the house when they were little (some in their 70/80/90's now!) when we first moved in. They were remarkable people in their small way. This house will always bear their name.
It still has horsehair plaster on most walls(huge PIA to repair by the way), not a true squared room to be had and the whole house sort of lists. And only one! bathroom. People in town swear it's haunted and have stories. We've been here 16yrs. It is. It's a weird house. This house has soul.

What!?! How is this 1.2 million? That’s like a 2 bedroom condo in my city. Bargain.

Haha just showed this link to Greg and he said how beautiful the house is. He also said it would be well over 10 million where we live. LOL it is truly all about location. Oh I would love to take this house and restore it. Swoon!

I like it as an art gallery. I'd visit and pay my £15. As a house it's dark and depressing with limited natural light and a kitchen far too small and outdated for any practical purpose.

Excellent gallery though! The brown features and obstructed windows I'd hate in a house really do make it a neat viewing space.

It’s so interesting to see how real estate works in different parts of the world.

In the Toronto core an attached garage is getting you in the 3 million plus range and 1.2 is like a condo or a shack (literally it was all over the news a few months ago when a tiny shack on a sliver of land sold for over a million).

My SIL says that when they moved into their house their lights flickered on and off and their chandelier swayed, but only at dinner time. Random objects moved across the floor. The whole family was convinced it was a ghost. It all stopped when her daughter yelled at the ghost to please stop, that they were scared.

A few days later my SIL told the story to a neighbor. The neighbor said the prior owner‘s wife had committed suicide in the house, and that the wife had really loved the house.

I believe this exists. There’s many eerie real life stories sharing similar experiences.
