Okay, so it took TWO Magic Manis two weeks in a row to get the magic going, but none of that matters anymore because I AM ENGAGED TO BE MARRIED TO THE LOVE OF MY LIFE!!!!
A short recap: FI (hee!) and I picked out the ring together five weeks ago, our jeweler told me it would take six weeks, then FI told my sister it would take an extra two weeks which she of course told me, so I wasn't expecting anything for a while.
Well . . .
I came to his condo today around 4:30, and he was straightening up and suggested I look through a pile of magazines and catalogs he was going to recycle, to make sure there wasn't anything I wanted to read. He was in the other room as I was looking through the pile, and then I get to the bottom and there were two huge wedding magazines. At first I thought he got them for me to assuage my extreme disappointment that the ring wouldn't be ready for several weeks, so I called out something like "very funny, Honey".
But then I noticed a silver bookmark hanging over the side of one magazine. At this point FI comes out of the other room holding another wedding magazine, and he tells me to read the bookmark, and it has these words engraved on it:
Will you marry . . .
Then he walks over to me, takes my hand, kneels, and says wonderful things that melt my heart, I start to shake, and I see that the magazine he's holding has a second bookmark with "Me" engraved on it, and the ring hanging on the bookmark.
I was so excited I started jumping up and down, and I teared up but didn't cry (which is shocking) and then he put the ring on my finger and we are now officially engaged to be married.
I'm still in awe of his proposal, it is so fitting and perfect. I hoped for something private, and now I have a gorgeous bookmark that will always remind me of this special moment. (I am a book nerd, by the way, and I'm so impressed that he fit my love of lit into his proposal.)
The pictures are, of course, shockingly horrible compared to the real thing. I'll create a topic in the SMTR thread as soon as I get some better shots. Anyway, that's our story and I'm really, really excited!
Thank you all for being so supportive of me during my LIW time, I wouldn't have made it through (well, as a sane person, at least) without you!
