Hi everyone--
You may remember I posted a couple weeks ago about losing a diamond out of my invisible setting in my e-ring. No, not the center radiant, but a small diamond in the band. Well......I got it back today. And I am not real happy. All the advice you all gave told me that these settings are not stable, pop stones easily, never look the same again, etc etc. I took this advice to the jeweler, they dismissed me, yada yada. Now the ring is back, and here is the problem. First, you can TOTALLY tell which side of the band had the missing diamond. The diamonds don''t lay as smooth, and there are tiny gaps between some of the diamonds. Second, you can see where they manipulated the platinum along the outer edge of the band to fit the missing diamond back into the band. Its a WAVY line of metal that rounds up ONTO the new diamond!!! Other side of mounting is sleek and straight. I have tried to take pics of it to post but my camera won''t show the detail well enough. I am so beyond frustrated. I need some advice as to how to handle this. Obviously I am taking my ring back in. I need the knowledge of how to express my concern and get rid of this setting for something more stable. I want to come across as firm, but not bi*chy. I want results, and not to be dismissed because I am picky. Who isn''t picky when it comes to their engagement ring! Please help me.
Thank you!!
Here is a rough draft of my ring:
xxxx xxxx x''s are each individual invisible set diamond
xxxx xxxx
Missing diamond was on left side, bottom row, second from the center stone. Thats where the metal is now lapping up and over the diamond. On the top left diamond it is protruding out, and theres a gap between all four far edge diamonds (not close to the center stone.) I know this is a pretty crude way of explaining, but its the best I could do without the pics turning out. Thanks everyone for your help here.
