The "greatest" is dead at 74...

Very sad. Saw him at the Mark Hopkins Hotel in SF about 10 years ago. He did the fist to my husband! Will never forget that moment. He certainly was the Greatest. RIP

Lots of sad news this week.

Very sad. He was an incredible athlete and activist. RIP.

I still remember his first fight against Joe Frazier March of 1971 "fight of the century" . I was in 6th grade...seems like yesterday.

DF - you and I are about the same age!!

I am a combat sports fan and today is a sad day for all fans worldwide. I'll never forget when he lit the cauldron for the Olympics.

Such a sad loss.

Nice little story: a family friend and her husband worked for the US Olympic teams in the 50s, 60s, 70s. She used to talk about the various athlete's she had the opportunity to meet. She always had such nice things to say about Cassius Clay, as he was known at that time. She always said he was a nice young man.
