I never stole from a store, but I did steal from my parents.
My dad keeps quarters in his car for when he goes to the self carwash and since he doesn''t wash his car that often, there are a lot of them. When I was 7 and the soap was obscuring the windows he was washing, I took a bunch, 7 dollars worth and hid them in my shoe. When we got home, it was a really nice day so my parents decided we would all walk to the shopping area about a mile away which we did often. Once we walked there, walked around and walked back, my feet hurt so much. As soon as we got home, I confesed so I could take my shoes off. My parents took the qurters and didn''t punish me because I definitely learned my lesson.
My DH and I are totally planning on being terrible when we are old and when we get caught wander away mumbling about walking the dog if we get caught.

In highschool I did take a couple of things... not anything that was ''for sale'' though. Our local Chili''s always had loose tiles on their tables that were painted really pretty and I took one or two of those. I took a fancy teapot from a restaurant once but I figured they''d just charge my credit card if it was that big of a deal. And I think I took a little sign holder that sits on the table at some restaurant... just because they were all cute.

Lol, I stole something about five years ago utterly by accident. I was in Goodwill shopping, and I found a velvet blazer just exactly like my favorite one I''d ripped the lining on recently. So I took it off the hanger and put it over my arm and kept shopping for a while. Didn''t find anything else. Boy that blazer felt really comfy on my arm- just like mine! I walked right out with it and totally didn''t think about the fact that, er, it wasn''t mine yet. Got in the car and drove off. Put the blazer on later that day and noticed the scratchy tag on it. And seriously just about fainted at my own stupidity. It was $1.99. I was too embarrassed to go back and tell them... probably I should have, but I didn''t.
Working at an antique mall I see some weird stuff. Once when it was really, really dead early in the AM I was working the biggest floor alone. This scuzzy guy came in and I walked around a corner and found him standing there with what was obviously something very large and misshapen under his shirt. Like several feet tall. So I just asked him what the heck it was. He got all sheepish and pulled this two foot tall Roseville Magnolia vase out from under his shirt, apologized, and bolted. It all happened so fast I was just left standing there with my mouth open.
We once got hit by a mother and her 10 year old son. The mom would distract the salesperson (me) and the son busted out some bolt cutters, cut the locks on a case with coins in it, cleared it out into his backpack and they both took off. That situation made me ill.![]()
DH once caught this little old lady with about fifty antique prints down her pants. That was odd!
I did go through a shoplifting phase with my sister when we were both in our early teens. I guess we thought we were being very clever or rebellious or something... of course we eventually got caught. We were sent to a class at the courthouse where the put the fear of god and the law into stupid teenagers. Well, of course when we showed up the entire class consisted of our highschool classmates. Including my future husband, lol! Ridiculous.

My dad's wallet was filled to the brim with 20$ bills. No he wasn't in the Mob.
When I was a teenager, I'd take a 20, now and then. He was never the wiser.
What killed me was before I was going out and had already slipped the 20, he'd ask you need some money??? ...

I did once in middle school when out at the mall with a bunch of girl friends. It was definitely due to peer pressure. We each took a flavored, tinted chapstick from Claires. I remember that I loved the color of mine, but the flavor was RAISIN and it tasted nasty, so I never used it. I also thought about how I stole it every time I looked at it so I kept it hidden away in my room with love letters and the like.
