I became a US citizen in 1977 at the age of 18. The first time I was eligible to vote for Prez. was in 1980 and I voted for Reagan.

In 1984 I was gonna vote for Reagan again, but on election day when I got home at about 6:00 pm PT I was about to leave the house to go vote, but when I turn on the TV. W. Mondale was getting ready to concede the race to Reagan. I decided not to go to the voting booth that evening.

Jimmy Carter. I still think he is a wonderful human being who radiates goodness.

The first election I was allowed to vote was in 2012. I don't remember how I voted. Now I dislike Romney so much so I prefer to be thinking I voted for someone else. But I didn't vote for Obama for sure!

1980 - Jimmy Carter

But I did vote for Ronald Reagan in 1984.

your all so lucky to be able to vote for leader of the free world

That's a good question. When I turned 18 the legal voting age was still 21. I was already over 18 but not yet 21 when the 26th Amendment, lowering the voting age from 21 to 18, passed. The first presidential election I voted in was, thus, probably in 1972 when George McGovern ran against Richard Nixon. I would have voted for McGovern, of course. The main issue, then, was the Vietnam War. Nixon was expanding it into Cambodia. McGovern wanted to end it. I also attended one of the Senate Select Committee on Campaign Activities hearings after Nixon was elected and all hell broke loose with the Watergate burglary.

I love him. When he was first elected, he scared me to death, but he turned out to be the man I have most liked as our president so far.

Ronald Reagan in 1984.

J. Carter is a wonderful human being but was a very weak Prez.

Like AGBF, either McGovern or Carter. Can't remember that far back.

I can vaguely remember McGovern vs Nixon in 72. However I'd remember Nixon beating Humphrey in 68.

@Dancing Fire I was at least too young to vote in 68! I was actually registered as a republican back when I first voted (I don't really know why!), but I could not pull the lever for whichever the republican was the first time I voted. I keep thinking it was Reagan.

THIS! It frustrates me (and probably countless others) that voting is optional for a key leader of the Western world. This person is crucial to so many countries, whether we like it or not. Having a shitty President affects more than just the USA... Please please choose to utilise your gift of the right to vote, to make positive change in the world.

2008 - my freshman year of college. Voted for Obama.

On election night the whole college dorms ran outside and started cheering “Obama”. It was a great memory. I never felt more proud to be an American in that moment and hopeful for the future.

A few years later everyone ran outside the dorms again and celebrated when Osama Bin Laden died. People were cheering “USA” non stop.
Everyone can feel the Obama magic in the air in 08 but not with this Biden/Harris ticket. There's no oxygen in the air today.

Obama made a great call on killing OBL.... but when Trump order the killing of Soleimani the Dems sided with the Iranian terrorist... :wall:

1992 -Big George (lost to Clinton)

1980 and I voted for John Anderson.

Any PSers voted in 1960 JFK vs Nixon?

1860 - Lincoln!

Jimmy Carter, 1976.

The first election I voted in was 2003 (as I turned 18 that year). I haven't missed an election -- even the oddball special elections that hit in spring -- since! That would mean first presidential election was 2004 so George W Bush since I really didn't care for John Kerry after researching both.

1988 Dukakis
