The Queen has approved a new form of recognition for the families of armed forces personnel killed in action or as a result of terrorism.
It is the first time a reigning monarch has given their name to a new award since King George VI instituted the George Cross in 1940.
I hope I never have to receive one of these although I do think its a great idea.

The Elizabeth Cross will be granted to the next of kin of servicemen and women who died during operations or were killed by terrorists since the Second World War.
