Hello All,

From what i''ve read across the various topics in this forum, GIA and AGS are the creme de le creme of labs.

That being said, if i find two virtually identical stones except that one is EGL - US and the other is GIA, how much lower in price (as a %) should i expect the EGL stone to be in order to justify purchasing it over the GIA?

I understand that there isn''t a specific figure here, but a ballpark rule of thumb would help..

thanks!

There''s a lot of variables to consider. For example, there''s a sharp drop in per carat price between and SI2 and an I1. Or between an I color and a J color. So an overgraded stone in those areas would carry a larger discount than say between an overgraded stone in the E and F color range and VVS1 and VVS2 clarity.

What range of color, clarity and carat weight are you looking at? What shape of stone? How fine a cut?
