This is a long post, and I''m not sure if this is the wright topic/spot for it on the forum, but I''ve just purchased rings from Exceldiamonds, and feel completely compelled to talk about my expeirence..

Where to start..where to start….well, I was upgrading my wife''s rings after 10yrs of marriage, and started my internet research. At first, without any thinking that I might purchase a ring online. I, probably like many, was very skeptical in purchasing jewelry, perhaps even especially a diamond, online. As I learned about diamonds with the wealth of good information online, I decided to do some price comparisons online, so at least I’d be in the right ballpark when we actually went to the various stores. Now armed with a fair understanding of the 4 C’s, and pricing, I went to the various high street stores, and got a big shock – not only were the prices massively inflated, but many of the stones were of very poor quality (now I understood how to determine that!)

I went back online, and stumbled across exceldiamonds.com. I was immediately impressed by their policies of guaranteeing their products - offering free overnight shipping, and full refund policies – clearly aimed at comforting the skeptical online buyer. I searched their name and found dozens and dozens of newsgroup reviews from individuals who were extremely satisfied with their purchase. I began sending them emails, questioning specific aspects of the purchase transaction, questions on various stones, metals, etc. Each time, a rapid and informative response came back from Barry at Excel – furthering my confidence in them. I’m not a wealthy guy, and spending a lot of money is something I take very seriously. More trips back to stores only did more to push me towards trying Excel – the stores were clearly heavily overpriced, and their staff didn’t know what they were talking about, while Barry is a generational gem guy, a professional, and he knows his stuff. So, I went with Excel, and made my purchase. The rings arrived, as promised, using next day delivery. They sent me a free kit containing a loupe and other neat gadgets so I might closer inspect my purchase. I then took my rings to an independent appraiser – to get the real story. Not only did his assessment match every aspect of the way the stone was marketed, the retail multipliers for the final price were astonishing. I was told that the exact same quality of stone/ring I received from Excel would retail more then $2,300 above what I paid. I’ve actually since tested this assessment by going back into the mainstream Zales, Kays, etc. and pricing rings of the same size and quality. The savings are incredible.

I would absolutely recommend Exceldiamonds.com to anyone. Their prices are amazing, their quality is spectacular, and their knowledge, professionalism and customer service is second to none. I have great admiration and respect for the Gutwein family (the family that owns and runs Exceldiamonds) and the way they have chosen to run their business. They are a shinning light within the industry and would implore anyone looking to make a diamond/ring purchase to at the very least consider what they have to offer. You will not be disappointed.
