Have you guys ever been in a situation like this? (Clip from 'The Apprentice' show on NBC. You need MS MediaPlayer to view the clicp. Press > button to play it)

They basically lacked discussion facilitating skills. 'Six Thinking Hats' would help them a lot.

PS:
Question re video: When it finally started playing, it would stop (freeze) the go on for another second or two, then stop/freeze again and again throughout.

Is this because I have dial up? Maybe I should avoid videos henseforth...So frustrating!

Was anyone else annoyed that the reason he fired Stacy was because of "location"?? They chose the SAME LOCATION as the winning team!!! He was obviously just firing her because he didn''t like the way she''d handled the Brent confrontation. I don''t know why he wouldn''t just SAY that was the reason for it. Yuck. But I agree--Brent needs to go!

Not that I like Brent AT ALL but Stacy really over-reacted. She deserved to get confronted. She was cutting him off every chance she got. He didn''t "threatened" her. Please. They can''t fire him. How silly. Scape goat anyone?

Well yeah, you''re totally right about all that! The thing that really irritated me was how they were all talking about how he''s mentally unstable! Why is that the ONLY REACTION people on reality TV EVER HAVE when someone is a teensy bit weird?? I mean, I don''t like Brent at all and I think he''s pretty damn weird, but he doesn''t need to be in an insane asylum!!! And he wasn''t sucking up THAT much of their time!

>>Have you guys ever been in a situation like this?

I actually meant to ask whether you''ve been in a situation when people/colleagues are arguing about different ideas and put each other down?

More advanced companies/managers use special routines or even invite professional facilitators to avoid destructive bickering and killing ideas and to enhance efficiency of the brainstorm processes.

There are special methods of doing that and Six Thinking Hats is one of them (very popular one). I just think that the group leader lost control of the situation, which won''t happen if he''d known about some of these methods.
