I just received the 2005 holiday magazine from BIRKS – (Canadian)
www.birks.com
They are advertising their new pride and joy – The Amorique Diamond
It’s really beautiful!

Here’s a general description taken from their website…

The ultimate cushion-shaped fancy-cut diamond, this exciting modern creation represents the union of Birks expertise and design innovation using the latest advance in diamond-cutting technology today. At the heart of this captivating contemporary design is a star-shaped pattern of facets expertly cut in the bottom of the crystal to maximize its effect. The result is an exciting reflection of brilliance and fire.

The diamond/settings in platinum start at $6500 Canadian

it could be very nice...but that name is so cheesy!

Very cool....I agree with the cheesy name, but Amorique sounds more exotic than "Modified Cushion for Birks so we can charge an extra premium"[$$)]

seriously, I think it looks lovely. Will people in the US be able to see this? Or is it only available in Canada?

I agree the name stinks ha ha ha! It’s a way to charge top $… But it’s nice to admire it! I’m sure it will be available…

The setting is cute... the diamond reminds me of the H&A cushions @ GOG. But... whoever came up with that name must be genius! Pretty embarrassing

I agree belle pretty cheesy name and all that I''ve heard about Birks on here, I''ll pass and go to GOG.

Don’t worry – I have my heart set on a round 2ct. (hearts and arrows) from Whitflash. Not sure if my boyfriend has the same feelings – I’m a big dreamer -ha ha ha!

I absolutely love the amorique, my boyfriend and I wen t looking for rings and we found this ring and fell in love with it, we want to get t duplicated by his jewerler becasue this price is so high, I cant believe you found this ring at birks becasue we found it in a jeweler in Florida called Mayors. they said this ring was exclusivly designed for them www.mayors.com

does anyone know what type of band that is?

Birks (Canadian) owns Mayor Jewelers (in FL/GA), so usually anything you see at Birks in Canada will be available through Mayors. Originally, when I thought that I wanted one of the Birks settings that we saw in Toronto, we looked into getting it at Mayors in the US since I still live in the US and it would have been cheaper.

It is really pretty looking, although that is definitely one of the dumbest names I''ve heard in a while.

blonde2be1- it looks like just a regular contour band to me.

The name took me forever to remember.
I really like the setting and shape of diamond.
They are hard to find, each store only carry 1 or 2 ring instock.
