I recognize you might be too stressed to even respond to everyone's questions properly. Is it possible to get your son to respond to the questions above from other poster's? Because, as others have said, getting legal assistance is great, but the folks on here might be able to help you through their connections.
I'm sorry to hear about such a horrible situation. I do hope everything gets resolved in your favour!
I agree with @tfc_diamondlvr - Going on the assumption that this is a 10ct diamond, those aren't flooding the market like their smaller counterparts. Many readers here frequent diamond sites as a hobby and their are many trade members here also. The more identifying information about this diamond available to them, the more likely it might be found if she tries to sell it. I believe that we also have several lawyers that frequent the forum and they could be very resourceful in helping to connect you with the right people and the best next steps. If the diamond is that large it would certainly be grand theft and since it crossed state lines, there are likely other charges that would apply.
I understand that this is stressful and I can't imagine what you are going though right now, but please be proactive in this matter. I believe time is of the essence if there is any chance of getting your stone back. - My thoughts are with you.
