Hi All,

I'm very new here, and here is my back story

After looking at this diamond a million times in different lighting situations, I made up my mind. I'm sending the diamond to Brian Gavin first thing Monday morning. If you look at my back story, I didn't pay too much for this diamond, but if it doesn't sparkle, what's the point right?

Here are the dog's specs: I must say however, for as bad as these numbers are is the diamond that bad looking? With a depth of 65.1 Percent, you'd thing you'd see more than one "ring of death" lol

2.01 rb
7.81mm * 7.74mm * 5.06
SI 3

D 65.1%
T 63 %
C 14.5%
P 44.5 %

I'm so glad I found this site! We'll see what Brian says!

Oh I hope it is a good candidate for recutting! :))

I recently had a diamond recut through BGD and am thrilled with the results. The thing to keep in mind is that not every diamond is a candidate for a recut. Hopefully yours will be, and Brian will be able to tell you if it is or isn't. It's definitely worth having him evaluate the stone for you! Good luck!

Good luck - I hope it works out for you! But i have two questions: What is an SI3? What is a "ring of death"?

Good luck, I hope it comes back fabulous!

I hope it works out! Your stone will go well below the 2ct mark, but since it is facing up at 7.8 anyways it may not actually lose much face up size. The issue will be the nature and placement of inclusions I suspect, as well as the large table size. But any improvement is worth it.

SI3 is an EGL clarity grade, equivalent to about an I1-I2 per GIA most likely. The ring of death is a jokey name for a black ring of darkness around the inner periphery of the table of some poorly cut diamonds.

Good to know, thank you Dreamer!
