I just wanted to post here and thank John from WF for his help with my recent situation. I jumped to the conclusion of blaming WF in my frustration. Regardless of how the situation turns out for me (it looks like insurance coverage may be an option after all), I want everyone here to know John sent me some very kind emails reaching out and offering his assistance both with the diamond selecting process and now the insurance process. I truly appreciate it. Also, thanks to everyone here who allowed me to vent. I am still upset, but I am hopeful things will work out. If nothing else, it''s just a diamond. My family still has their health, and for that I am thankful.

By the way, I''m the one with the "Help, What do I do?" Post.

I''m glad to hear things may be looking up, and that WF has been helpful. Please come back and post pics of your new stone!

I can only hope that after the trauma of a broken stone, sunny skies lay ahead for you in your quest.

Good luck on resolving this situation and finding a beautiful new stone!

Suemann, I truly hope insurance coverage will save the day for you (i''m assuming you''re meaning homeowners).

When you get your new stone, please do call a few places to get quotes. As others had mentioned, I have a sneaking suspicion that the premium should have been $250 a year instead of $250 a month.

As a baseline for reference (although it was back in 2004, so a bit outdated), I was quoted $1.15 per $100 of value for replacement, and $1.70 per $100 of value for cash-out. Based on that, a $25K ring woul cost $425 a year for the more expensive cash-out option.

However, even MORE important.....if you pay $8500, then tell your appraiser your goal in appraising is merely to state your cost plus a margin more for inflation. If I paid $8500 for a ring, the appraiser would likely suggest appraising for double ($17K), and I''d say "well, since I want to do a cash-out policy and keep my premium reasonable, and since I know I can work with this vendor, I''d prefer to state it a bit closer to original......maybe $10-11K. Most appraisers will work with you on that.

The goal should be to appraise/insure for enough that your appraisal amount would cover replacing for the next 3-4 years. Then, it''s a good idea to get it reappraised according to the then-market rate.

My turn to "ditto" everything alj just said about insurance!

i''ll thritto it...

suemann, i know you still feel sad about your stone but i truly hope your new (bigger) stone, (take your hubby up on his offer
31.gif
) will help ease the pain for you. I know laney bonded with her new upgraded stone pretty quickly after her stone cracked too. please post pics of your new ring once you get it...

Thanks for the update, am hoping everything works out for you. Good luck!!

Thanks everyone! Kaleigh, I''m a fan of your ring. GORGEOUS!! Maybe I can find something similar.

Something kinda sweet to share. I helped my husband pick my last stone. He didn''t have a clue, but I had been here. The WF folks were helpful to both him and me. Anyway, this time he wants to try it on his own! I will recommend he come here for advice, much like I did. I''m going to miss my stone so much, but I''m sure John will help my hubby pick another.

On a side note, it''s homeowners that will pay a large portion, but I took it up with the insurance company. My quote was $250 a month, but I''m thinking it should have been closer to $25. I bought the insurance through a local car insurance company--who knew!? Wish I had come here first.

WHFSR, you don't call people insulting names on this forum who you have been attacking in other threads, then try to cover them with a transparently insincere 'just kidding'. You aren't showing your maturity, and you are only making yourself look bad.

ummm...I was really joking. don't get me wrong, I got steamed up for a little back there, but if I didn't enjoy it I would just head back to my book or something else. I have got no grudges against alj. Seriously, I was just going for the shock factor, thats why I put the

the just kidding is 100% just kidding, no implications or hidden meanings on that one.

she/he...you are a she right? gives some excellent advice most of the time, so from my end it was meant to be in good humor...at any rate I didn't know how to fourths her post after all the tension in the previous thread

I don't know where to begin. How about with Stop the insanity??? I mean this is a happy thread.

Anyway, suemann, I think it's great your hubby wants to pick this stone out. We'll be here to help if he needs it. I know John will do a great job. He's such a class act. I'm glad you like my ring, hubby did a nice job with it. Please keep us posted.

Ok. My mistake. Must have been the lack of the 'quotation' marks you seem to think you included.

Please! Please! This is supposed to be a happy occasion! Lets not Bicker and argue over who killed who...well, you know what I mean...

Suemann,
Yay for a new diamond!!! WF is great; especially John! Can''t wait for you to come back and show pics

oh and incase anybody was freaking out, that part about the "who killed who" was a "Monty Python and the Holy grail" allusion:)

What a class act. I have not seen the aforementioned thread, but it takes a lot of class to come on and say I may have been wrong and thank the one about whom you were venting. Just another part of what makes Pricescope so great!

Thank you for your comment here.

Suemann, I am so glad to hear that this has come to a happy resolution for all involved. WF has always, for as long as I have been a part of this board, been known as a class act. This type of story is just one of many reasons that is true.

I hope the hubby will feel he can come here and get advice. We would love to help him pick out your next baby. No peekies you.

He wants to surprise you remember?

Yay-all''s well that ends well! I hope to see photos of a new and improved diamond soon!
