I just wanted to put a quick post - a while back, Gypsy advised someone in the UK looking for a budget stone of an ebay seller specialising in antique cut diamonds. Low and behold the seller lived close to us and we were able to meet him to choose an amazing OEC! It is small by pricescope standards at a carat, but looks big by UK standards! And it is sparkly as anything. Thank you so much Gypsy, without you I am sure we would have ended up with a substandard generic round brilliant instead of a beautiful OEC!

Great!!! :appl: Gypsy is extremely helpful in finding old cuts, that is for sure!

YAY!!! I'm so happy for you! He was such a gentleman when I corresponded with him, I'm so glad your experience bore that out!! Do you have pictures? I'd love to see what you purchased! And a CARAT is NOT SMALL! I have a carat for my engagement ring and another for my RHR. I think it's a fabulous size.

Did you tell him that you found him via pricescope? He's familiar with the site, so I am curious!

oh wow, how awesome :) and I agree, a carat is NOT small! please post pictures if you get a chance!!

Yeah, we told him all about finding him through you - he was either very impressed or thought I was slightly crazy, not sure which! He was brilliant with us, met up with us three times to let us make an informed decision, with no pressure. He also brought a few yellow diamonds along 'just for fun' - I think I might have to start a collection! I fell in love with an OMC he had but my boyfriend (now fiance!) convinced me to get the OEC, and I think he was right, it is a cracker... We got the ring independently appraised, and the appraiser fell in love with it too.

I will try to attach some pics, but I am terrible at taking photos, and my camera is rubbish! They really don't do the diamond justice at all.

Congratulations!! I'm an old cut junkie, so I'm always happy to see someone else come over to the dark side!!!

Ignore the end of this, I was merrily filming the ring in work when someone walked in and couldn't work out how to stop filming, but this is much better than any photo I could take!

LOOKS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, I'm so happy for you!

Thank you! It truly is, I just wish I could capture it's beauty on camera. Might employ a professional! We just put it in a plain platinum setting, which was meant to be a temporary measure, but I have fallen in love with it's simpleness, which is 100 times specialer than anything we had looked at pre-pricescope. Next project = wedding band. I can't wait!

looks great!

Very nice stone and setting! I really like the classic look of your engagement ring - beautiful!

Wow, that diamond looks beautiful and so perfect with the simple band! Congrats!!
