I know this is a fairly basic question, but hey...you guys are experts. I''ve decided on "popping the question" and wanted to get a better feel for budget, value, cost, etc. Here''s the question...

1.) I like the 2.25 carat size, originally thinking oval but now leaning towards round
2.) Wanted to stay in the $16K range, so now turning to the experts (you) to help me get the best size diamond for this price.
3.) Preliminary searches uncover a pretty broad price delta in the 2.25 range, anywhere from $13K to well over $28K. I found a few diamonds with the following specifics:

- 2.15 to 2.35 carat
- SI1 to VS2
- Ideal Cut
- GIA
- H to G

Question #1 - How do you purchase a SI1 stone on the Internet without seeing the inclusion beforehand? Seems to be pretty risky

Question #2 - Is it possible to get a great diamond, G color VS2 in the $16K range...2.25 carat. What are the other things to look at (should there be flouresence, what measurements should I focus on)

Question #3 - I''ve looked at whiteflash and bluenile...any other websites you would recommend. Also, any "brick and mortar" stores in the Riverside, CA or Palm Springs area that you would recommend?

Although I was married 8 or 10 years ago, the ring I bought for my first wife wasn''t anywhere near the price I want to spend on this. I''m definitely trying to "do my research" before taking the plunge.
